Fellas,
My batteries were failing on my Crimson Trace laser so I changed them today. Tonight at the range, the laser would get dimmer or even shut itself off when I fired the gun. I could shake the gun and the laser would get brighter, but the first shot would shut it down again. I figured a battery was loose.
I took my gun home and pulled the batteries. Nothing looked out of the ordinary. I put them back in, but I now have kind of the opposite problem. The laser starts kind of dim, but when I dry fire, it gets brighter.
Anybody know what's causing this? It was not happening before the I changed the batteries. I will call Crimson Trace tomorrow.
All help is appreciated.
Wade

I would at least try one more battery, you might have gotten a bad new one.

Nope. The reliance on them, has you look at something other than your sights first, and when they fail (and, they will), you're at a disadvantage, as the sights AREN'T what you are looking for and at.
Don't want one, ever, on a firearm.

Try another ( know brand new battery ) and then call CTG. They will replace the grips No Questions asked.
In the mean time.. you have factory grips and sights.. shoot them!

Nothing like this would "ever" happen in a worst-case, defensive situation, right?

Thats what it sounds like to me, loose contact.

Could be the battery or could be the switch.
If it's a loose or less than good battery connection, try slightly bending the contact tab underneath the battery(s) to make a bit firmer contact; also a little silicon grease on the battery sometimes does wonders for intermittent contact.

Thanks guys. I talked to customer service and I'm mailing the grips back tomorrow. I don't have any other grips since this model came stock with the CT. But, Jimmyd223 has some extras he's going to loan me so I can still shoot bowling pins at the gun club this week.

Wade I have the factory grips from my CDP just sitting if they work better for you. I can bring them by Monday when I'm at work if needed

Thanks, that's a great offer. I think I'll be OK though--I'm going to "borrow" my wife's gun for pins this week!
But...if Crimson Trace is going to take a long time to get my grips back, I might be in touch!

Anything that requires batteries is going to fail sooner or later and it will happen when you need them the most. Why i like Trijicon sights and scopes.

I have tritium night sights installed and shoot fine with them. But for bowling pins, I like the the laser!
