For my smaller varmint rounds from 17 to 308, I'd say Lil Gun, 10x, Benchmark and RL-15.

Take the Horny outta the loop and one could easily eat Benchmark (or its IMR cousins 3031 or 4895) in everything.

H 4895 for the 204
AA 1680 for the 221
H4198 for the 222
Varget for the AR 223
Also use BenchMark in the 204, 222, and 223
Bullets are a matter of what I can find at the right price(cheap). I like(in no particular order) Hornady, Nosler , Sierra, and Berger.

TAC is incredibly versatile, working very well in several varmint rounds, including the .17 Fireball, .204 Ruger and .223. It also burns extremely cleanly and contains a de-coppering agent, and in most rifles I rarely if ever have to clean the bore. It may be the fastest canister powder available for the .204.

Good to know about the .204. I bought some TAC for use in .223s, and have since heard it is pretty good in the .358 Winchester, too. Yea!

+1 for TAC, I use it in my .17 Fireball, .204 Ruger, and .223 as well.

In 204 Ruger, I'm really liking A2230 under a 32 v-max. Shoots great groups and clean. In 223 my go powder in the 50 v-max is Benchmark. Again very accurate and clean burning. If I go up to 69 Nosler's for longer range, I like H4895. I can get over 3,000 fps without pressure signs in this load through a Savage with 22" barrel and it shoots excellent groups as well.

If I was just buying one powder, it would probably be IMR 8208 XBR as the best overall compromise.

I shoot a 243 for Varmints. IMR-4064, 4350. Varget and RE-15. And Win 760 are on my go to list, depending on load.

I've had good success with Varget and Benchmark. I've tried TAC in several rifles behind several bullets, but never found a combo that worked for me. Ran through a pound and still nothing acceptable. After reading the success stories of many, I plan on trying TAC again in the immediate future. I bought another pound and will go back to the drawing board. Maybe the one and only pound I had was a little off. Maybe things will change with the new can. I don't think I've given a fair assessment as of yet.

I've easily burned more Varget than anything else.

JB, you have come up with a doosey or eight before, but shoot TAC and never clean again is a bit Ludicrous to say the least.
Sure you will sell it to your mindless minion's though... grin

Not only that, but TAC works very well in reduced loads for the 30'06 with 150-180 gr. bullets.
It works well for full power loads w/ 150 gr. bullets in the .308. And that I didn't get from JB.
As far as his information being exaggerated, I've never caught him at it. And I'm the kind of guy that watches for those things.
So, tell us, have you put 500 rds. through an accurate .223 and not had to clean it to restore it's accuracy due to the use of TAC ? E
