We've had all the "Just One Rifle" threads, but I've been pondering this about scopes.

Could you scope all of your different rifles with the exact same brand, model, and size of scope, and still be happy, effective at harvesting game, meet your accuracy standards at the range, etc?

I have a favorite scope, with which I'm so comfortable, that I'm thinking I could put it on everything from my .22 to my Whelen, & be perfectly content. Kind of like Albert Einstein wearing the same kind of clothes every day.

Does anyone else feel that way, or does this only cement my status as the resident oddball?

I know the "big dollar" boys will chime in, but for me it would be my Elite 4200 4-16x50 SF. Got two safes full of rifles, and can't imagine that any of them wouldn't do just fine with that glass. But I hunt my rigs--don't know what the paper and gong killers would need.

+3 on the Leupold 6X, Have both 6X42 and 6X36'es

Have more of them on rifles than any other, and the rest are Leupolds also.

my friend does this with 4x leupolds...takes it one step further and only uses ruger 77's
i like the above mentioned idea of the 6500 elite bushnell, but have yet to own one
closest i've come so far is the burris "six x" in the 2-12x40's...have three of them currently

I might have to agree with that, though I am just starting to play with my 6x.

I've yet to try the Leupy 6x36.
As of right now, Weaver K6. I've even got one on a Kimber .243.

Well, that would leave us with the Conquest 3x9x40, an amazing value for the $350 price that Doug is now featuring.

Hunting rifles yes - either the Leupold 2.5-8 or 3.5-10. I have the 3.5-10 on several - with different reticles.

Praire dog/ground squirrel rifles - different. So far Leupold Mk IV 6.5-20X50 with the TMR reticle on several.

Long range prairie dogs - even more different. For me, lots more X's than 20 needed at 1,000 yards and beyond and those shots can only be attempted when conditions are just right - not more than one hour of the day in Montana.

Naw, it doesn't have to be a current production model. What with the innanet & all, we can find almost all the oldies we want. And yes, my favorite is discontinued. frown

FC, you and I think alike. I wanted a 2.5x8 Conquest to mount on my .338 WM so badly that I overpaid on EBay ($415) for a used one. And all this despite having a orphan 3x9 Conquest sitting idly on the shelf.

Is there a pill to help this looney-ism?
