I didn't know they made a .22-250 with impressed checkering. The only one I have ever seen was a 99CD with Monte Carlo and cheekpiece.

I don't think the CD was cataloged in .22-250 so either the wood was changed or you saw a rare factory one.

I've seen some 7-08s stocked that way but never a .22-250. Technically, they are not CDs but I forget the exact distinction.

I wouldn't be surprised either way. It was in a gunshop in Minnesota and was in excellent condition. I don't remember the markings on it but the stock looked like the other 99CDs I have seen. For the price they were asking it better have been factory.

99CD stocks are the only 99 stock ever cataloged with a raised cheekpiece. The post 1980 99Cs were cataloged with cut checkering and a monte carlo stock, put no cheekpiece.

Well, I must say it is in much better shape than the rat that I have. Even has the logo on the grip cap still. And, as a plus, it looks like the person who's job was to put the sling stud in the butt was sober that day.

Look for a flurry at sniping time. Then again, it may just get passed on by everyone.

The detachable magazine rifles are not true 99s, Savage should have come up with a new model number.

For such a "rare" example, I sure don't see a flurry of bidding on this one. Considering its condition, how much would you be willing to spend on this gun, were it a no-reserve auction.
I'm not the seller (and definitely not a buyer) and am asking purely out of curiosity. So, tell what you'd pay- $500, $600? As a collector, where is your line in the sand?

Got my 22-250 for $440 Canadian, shipped.
Looks almost like that one, less the medallion.
Serial is pretty close to mine as well.

Ended with no bids - the snipers most all be in another part of the woods Maybe it's still the "summer slump"??

I sold several .22-250 Cs in better shape than that one for $750. But...the last one I sold brought $1,100!
He should have waited until after Labor Day to put it up.
