I recently completed a trip from Calgary AB, to Kelowna BC. About a 7 hour drive each way. Traffic was heavy which meant I drove at up to 140km/h in the passing lanes to get by some of the slow pokes. I still averaged 23mpg through the mountains. I figure that's not too bad considering the steep winding mountain roads.

It did not like Kelowna though. Lots of traffic, lots of very steep hills. I don't think San Franciso has much on Kelowna for steep streets. 17mpg in Kelowna, but due to heat, AC ran all the time.

Wow, 23 mpg is pretty darn good, especially in the mountains.

Oh, didn't know it was Imp. gallons, that does make a difference. That is about what my GMs with 5.3 liter V8 average.

It's possible that the 5.3 GM gets that, it's a decent engine, but the decider for me was that the Ford cab has so much more usable room, it was a no brainer decision.

Have not spent any time in the Ford cab so I can't really compare space/comfort. Hope to sit/drive one at some point.

As far as the eco boost, do you notice any engine sound difference? I know with the diesels one can hear the "turbo whistle". Can you hear the turbos on your engine?

I have a 2002 Ford that has been awesome. I would like to be loyal to Ford but I drove a 2011 4x4 with the 5.0 for two weeks when our car was in the shop and I absolutly hated the truck. It was the most uncomfortable truck I have ever been in. The seats have a curve in them that makes just sitting in them uncomfortable. The rest on the door was too far away to even use and the gas mileage was horrible. I will probably buy another Ford one day, it just one be one of the current models. I am thinking Dodge as I drove one and loved it. I also liked the Chevy but I have heard they are going to change body styles in a year or so. I don't want to end up with an out of date model so soon into the game.

I have had my 2011 F-150 4x4, with a 5.0l V-8 now for 2300 miles. My mixed driving on the highway and local town roads is 18.3.

My freeway mileage contiunes to be 19.1-19.8 depending on the freeway speed. With a lot of 55mph driving I have no doubt I could hit 20mpg. This truck has more power than a lead foot should have in a rig. It is fun to drive and sounds evil when you push the happy pedal down with any kind of force.

Over Labor Day weekend, we were heading to the cabin and headed up a long 1 mile + grade and it didn't even drop out of OD.

I will agree on the seat, it isn't the most comfortable. I had to play around with the settings for some time until I found the sweet spot I liked.

I am itching to sell my f250 and get one of the new EB engines. I just don't need a diesel. I like it but I don't tow... really ever so it seems like a bit of waste to me. I do wish Ford offered a manual like I have now but it seems aside from select Chrysler products the 4x4 manual are going the way of the dodo.

Truthfuly, if you don't tow...I'd skip the EB too. Towing is where it will shine.

Yes, sometimes, but not very loud. My wife doesn't even notice it.

I have back problems. I ordered the FX4 with the luxury package to get super adjustable seats. I find the truck seats to be very comfortable. I like the truck very much.

The Eco Boost really acts like a little gas burning diesel. With the turbos, instant acceleration/power at any speed. Low RPMs too. You hardly ever notice the tach over 2000rpm. Amazing.

The low RPM's is what the EB is for.

Even the v-8 impresses me. On a loooong up hill tow, it didn't even shift out of 6th gear on a trip with a nearly loaded truck last weekend.

I had a Toyota truck for 20.5 years. My first inclination was to buy a crewcab Tacoma (never liked my friends 2007 Tundra). I chose this Ford (hard to go away from Toyota), but I know I bought the best truck (1/2 ton) currently avaiable. No complaints. I LIKE IT!

I have a friend with a dealership, who let me take an eco boost for a day. It was a a four door Lariat 4x4 and had great power and per the computer averaged 20 MPG in about 120 miles of mixed driving (about 3/4 highway). I took my 5.3L Suburban through roughly the same loop of 120 miles after bringing the Ford back and the Suburban averaged 16 MPG. My 5.3 Suburban usually gets 12.5 city and 16-17 highway.

I really like the Ford and keep thinking I want to trade for one.

I switched from Toyota too. I hope I like this one as much as the Tundra.

I got one two weeks ago. Crew cab, FX4, and towing package. 2 tanks throuh it and averaging 17.5, and I have been pretty gentle with it. Dealer said it will average over 20 when it gets broken in.

otherwise It's a great truck plenty of power, smooth, and comfortable.
