Hi,

Does anybody shoot a Beretta Mato out there? I've read that the action was designed (built?) by Dakota. Can anybody confirm this? They seam like really nice rifles. I'm a blued steel and walnut kind of guy but I've decided to get practical just once and buy a modern hunting rifle. Any information about this firearm would be appreciated. Thanks,
Brian, No doubt that the Mato is a sharp(as in RAZOR sharp) looking rifle. Remington makes a practical blued/walnut version of the M700 too, only cheaper........

They do appear to be Dakotas.
I have two Dakotas that I ordered as preferred and they both shoot very well out of the box....a fine rifle.

Brian,
I've got a Mato, in 7mm Rem Mag, and love it. Shoots straight and accurate right out of the box. I've got the composite stock on mine. Added a Vari-X II(3x9x50), and couldn't ask for more.

I will have to mention that I got the rifle at a substantial discount. I wouldn't buy a $1,000.00+ gun. Seen too many $500-600.00 M70s and 700s shoot well. The base exchange has a policy of reducing the price of rifles that sit too long. Turns out that the Beretta had been in the case for 7 months. I remembered that the original price was just over $1,000.00. Sale price was $534.00. They dropped it an additional 15% when I hesitated on buying it. I ended up paying $453.90 for it. I had no idea what the value was until I got home and looked it up.

The shop that put the bases and rings on it, did it for free, after losing a bet on what I paid for the rifle. We made the bet. I brought them the receipt. Saved me $15.00 on the install.

All in all, I'd have to say the rifle is worth every penny I spent on it.

Take it easy,
Jim
