With the posting about Gray Rats and the 99c's fresh in mind, I thought I'd spend some time this morning to share my 99 with the group. I'm not exactly sure what type of rat to classify it as, but I do know it is developing a case of freckles, so I'll start there. How does it look?

I wouldn't call that a rat - but it is a C...

What caliber? Do you hunt it?

I have several more pics, chronicling most of the things that are defects. Yes, it is a 99c, series A. As I consider it a shooter, I intend to hunt with it soon. Here is the caliber stamp:

Silly question, I should know this, but did the C come with sling mounts already there? Thanks, Les

Actually, MAD, it probably isn't. It actually photographed much better than it looks up close. And it does have issues...

And my favorite......

They really nailed that sling swivel stud in the centerline, didn't they.
There is also blueing loss at the muzzle, and many scratches and worn spots in the wood finish. Also, isn't there supposed to be a medallion on the grip cap and a gold trigger?

Thanks for looking-

Just to get the date of your correct, can you gimme the serial number?

Just leave out the last couple numbers with X's.

Yours was made between 77 and 80 but I haven't seen one with a gold trigger in 22-250. My 284 and 300 Sav do but thats another thread altogether.

Ya, yours was made in Sept of 1979.

Although Murray states it was also listed in 1980, the 1980 catalogue doesn't show the 22-250, just the 308 and 243.

No yours wouldn't have the medallion, just the CD's had this.

Oh ya, after closer examination, your right, mine is a little better. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

The cap looks like it might accept a medallion and you can still get them from Steve.

Yeah, I figured yours would be. You probably paid less for yours, also. But, I figured it was something you don't see every day and it might make a nice coyote rifle.

Thanks for the info-

Ricks right, if you want a medallion for your cap go here.

http://www.savageparts.com/

I'm gonna be trying mine on some pre-deer season yotes as well. Just as soon as I scope it properly.

MD is correct, no medallion ...I checked mine ...I think the medallion will fit the hole as they are the same size.
