It's a model DL made in (I'm guessing) 1967.
The reason I say guessing is because your really close to where my numbers switch to 68. If you could do me a favor, can you look on the front of the lever for a small circle and tell me whats in it? It should have a number with either a U or a V.

Hi mad dog my friend is holding this rifle for me i am picking it up next month, just in time for deer season. I spoke with him today and in the oval is a 9j I have a list of lever boss codes if this is an accurate list it shows the rifle was made in 1958 . How close are the serial #'s to yours? And do you know where the lever boss code list is from? Later Tanoose

With that SN it can't be a 9J. That is a 1960 or later gun.

I'm thinkin it's a U with half of the one side worn down, no way it's 1958.
As Lightfoot said, the gun wasn't even a model till 1960.

If the stock has a raised cheek piece, it isn't original, as 99DLs had monte carlo style raised combs, but not raised cheek pieces. I assume from the SN range that it is a post-'64 with pressed checkering and a 22" barrel, rather than cut checkering and a 24" barrel.

Ok a double check and my friend said its not a j it says 9u and the serial # is correct . As far as the monte carlo stock it does NOT have the cheek piece. So does 1967 sound about right?
