This surely is the most interesting Winchester M1895 I have owned. It is a special order musket with a 32 inch barrel. The museum letter indicates it had been back and forth to the Winchester factory many times. It has came to me with the Lyman long side mount sight but was also set up for a heel mounted sight - for Creedmoor style (toes forward)shooting. I had never seen a Winchester repeater set up for Creedmoor style shooting.

Yes, I think it was 28 inches for the Russian contract muskets. I've never owned one - in fact, this is the only '95 musket I have owned. I want my next M1895 musket to be a Savage wink

How many different calibers were offered in the M1895? I
saw one in .38-72 once and it was in terrible condition,
mostly 30-06 and 30-40 Krag.

Let me think, off the top of my head, I'll say:

.30-40 Krag
.30-03
.30-06
.303 British
.35 WCF
.38-72
.40-72
.405
7.62x54R (Russian contract musket)

Don - that is an absolutely fabulous .405. What a hunting machine too wink I love the factory pad. The only .405 I had was a takedown smile but it had a cresent butt frown
