I remember many years ago when I was growing up in Kansas, I could hardly wait for the start of rabbit season. I hoped for a light dusting off snow to track the the critters. It occurred to me that I no longer have this urge. How many of you still plan a small game only hunt each year. By small game I mean cottontail and edible tree squirrels each year, not just blasting ground squirrels into red-mist?

Can't beat squirrel hunting. The year wouldn't be complete w/o it.

We hunt rabbits too but that involves poker, lots of beer and so on. Hard to put that in the same class as squirrel hunting.

When I deer hunt I pack a 22 for some tree squirrels.

Just sold my beagles for rabbit hunting. But the guy I sold them to gave me an open invitation to hunt with him anytime I want. I plan on taking him up on it quite a bit this year.

I love hunting squirrels. Have done it since I was a kid. I have a Kimber .22 that I use now, good practice for big game hunting as well.

I always seem to get a few small game hunts in each year. Mostly with my son. Rimfires for the majority of it.

If given a choice, I still prefer to still hunt squirrls and rabbits with my recurve. Helps keep the stalking skills up to speed.

Love hunting squirrels with a rifle, but work, money, and
time just doesnt allow it.

I still do alot of small game hunting every year. I used to run into others out after squirrels/rabbits back in the 70's and 80's but not anymore.

I go rabbit hunting as often as I can, but haven't been squirrel hunting since I was in my early 20's - need to fix that this season.

When in an area with lots of hardwoods, I would never pass up a day in the woods hunting squirrel with my .22. I absolutely love it.

Not to mention they eat real good like.

The first hunting I did as a kid was for squirrels. I still love to hunt them.

Gave up big game hunting and am now a "red mist" Sagerat hunter!

Bought a Cooper 17 HMR just for my new sport, with a Ruger 22 Hornet for a backup. (the Green Hornet!)

You are absolutely right. I know some Fellows that grew up hunting Squirrels and never had the opportunity to hunt Deer until later in Life. They are some of the best Hunters I know.

In Shelby County in East Texas, it was not to long ago they would have to dismiss School on the 1st of October because all the Boys and some of the Girls would not be present because the openning of Squirrel Season. Squirrel Hunting is becoming a lost Art.
