I got into the mid caliber game too late and missed the Zeiss Conquest 2.5-8X32 when it was available. How come it was discontinued? It must be in this economy, maintaining several lines in the near-3-9 range is too expensive for them...
I just installed the 2.5-7 Weaver on my 338 RCM and at x7, the scope lightly touches my forehead with the hinge of the Butler Creek cover on recoil on the bench. I intend to use it at x2.5 mostly but still, the light scope kiss can turn into a smack in some kind of a field shooting position. I think I would really like the solid 4" of eye relief of the 2.5-8X32 Conquest. Finding a used one is darn near impossible. Whine, whine, whine...

It never sold as well as the 3-9x40 and was more expensive, if I remember correctly. It is a really good scope as was the 4x32 but fixed powers and lower mag range variables don't seem to sell as well as 3-9 or larger scopes any more.

I was in the same boat until about three or four months ago. Cameraland put out a post on the 'Fire that they had some in stock. I was lucky enought to get one. Maybe they will stumble onto another batch in the future.

What's the practical advantage to that scope anyway?

I had a couple of these scopes - always looked like the scope was on the rifle backwards. grin

Nice view though.

About an ounce lighter, obj bell obviously a little trimmer, bout only advantages. Have one and really like it. 4x32's too. Next time around probably get the reg 3-9x40; just another guy cut out by the conquest marketing team!

Golldammed motion detector lights. A guy can’t even piss off his porch in peace any more.

I know the objective bell is trimmer, but in a lot of applications it's the ocular end that limits how low the scope can be mounted.

Not sure what Zeiss was thinking when they made the 2.5-8 with a 32mm obj and the 1.8-5 with a 38mm obj. Seems like it should have been the other way around.

2.5-8x38 Conquest would have been a great scope!

They should have scrapped both and made a 2-7x36.

With as far forward as I have to mount my scopes, I've always found that to be my biggest problem.
