I would rather dump my money on a good spotter than anything else.It could save you a 2 mile trek to find out what you stalked isn`t worth shooting.
Its all right to be white!! Stupidity left unattended will run rampant Don't argue with stupid people, They will drag you down to their level and then win by experience

So you have not looked through, let alone own the Leu 7-12 Switch Power binoculars!
In fact you have escewed "Rocket Science" with your statement:
"It doesn't take rocket science to figure out that the view through a 10x32, and 17x32 SP would be worse on all accounts. You can't cheat physics. The duovid is in a whole other league....top shelf."
I own the Leu. 7-12's and they match and compliment my vision very well. At 12X I can hold them steady and tell what it is!
They are perfect for actual hunting in the open and scanning at 7X and then when something small is of question the 12X shows me.
Mule deer likes his switch power's and I like mine.
To each his own.

To each his own. After comparing my buddies SP's I wouldn't use a pair if they were free. For the third time, Mule Deer uses Duovid's, not a Leupold SP. The two do not even belong in the same sentence together. Please understand it's nothing personal towards you, and I'm glad they work for you. You probably already know it's easier to see game with a steadier, high quality 10x42 than it is with a shaky 12x32.

Midway's new flier that I got in the mail has a spotter with ED glass for just over $200.00.
It's a Blackhawk 20-60x60. $209.99. Anyone try one of these?

Not to get into a pissing match, but I just tried a friends switch powers as well - Leupold 7x12x32 I believe. I found the view marginal at best - they seemed like good build quality, nice and hefty but the optics were on par with a $100 set of binos. I always liked the concept but they aren't worth the cabbage in my opinion. Other people may differ . . .
Oh, and I did compare them to Duovid's and a set of Swaro EL's, granted both are a lot more $ but the view is far, far better.

So you and Raider have not owned the Leu 7-12 Switch Power binoculars and in fact you are not sure what you looked through but your so sure the view was better! My take on this is that you and Raider don't have the Leu's and if you could and tried them they may or may not suit you as each persons vision is their own. Join the NRA.

I just feel that if I'm going to spend a lot of money on a optic it would be on a rifle scope or binoculars. Those seem to be a little higher priority for me. Don't get me wrong I like all those high line products but I know there are some products in the price range that I'm looking for that will get the job done.

I bought a spotting scope just for $175 from a Canada online shop, it works very well. You can see my signature for the shop name.

Have you called Doug yet? He'll have several options for you, & he's got the experience to match you with what's best for what you're looking to do. Go ahead & give him a call - make it easy on yourself. FC

OK - let me rephrase, I did use the 7-12x32 Leupold switch binos. Secondly we used them outside for about 45 minutes. After that much time I could tell they weren't anything special, even moderate to expensive glass (from a view perspective) was much better.
Tell me again why I need to own something to form an opinion after using? Hell, I'm not "E" and forming opinions on stuff I've never touched . . .

Spot and stalk....Saves many, many miles of walking for no good reason, at least in the areas I hunt....

ms88 I have carried an Elite 20x45x 60mm for years. It is a very serviceable spotting scope. Easy to backpack. Also ther is a Minox MD 62 (about 32 oz) on sale on the fire for $320 http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads...ott#Post5658252
