Hey all, I know I researched this before & knew the exact model on this take down. I think it is a model H, 20" barrel interrupted thread. Serial 131XXX Which dates to 1913 Front receiver marked with a "Z". Murray's lists only 22 hp available in take down, other calibres available for $2.50 extra. This one is is 25-35. The condition of the bore was consistent with the rest of the rifle. The odd thing is the barrel is marked 22 Sav HP. Has this been noted by anyone before?

A) Re-bored from .22HP B)Stock refinished C)Reblued, including lever
Looks like a fun shooter though, especially with the Boone.

Actually marked 22 H.P. Lever is not reblued, the rest was (by me, it was as grey a 'rat' as you could find. Got a real good deal in a trade). I guessed the barrel was a rebore but wanted to check with the fine folks on the forum. I just didn't know if the rebore was something from the 'special order' or something done at a later date by a gunsmith. The forearm is a match but the buttstock is a replacement. I have new wood for this that will be fitted (will hold on to the originals) but would like some confirmation as to what the original buttplate would look like. I want to make sure it is period correct.A pic if someone has it would be helpful.
Thanks Guys!
On a side note, has anyone met DP Murray? Do they know where he hails from? I have a signed copy of his book & think I may have purchased this directly from him at a gun show in eastern PA. This fellow always had lots of nice Savages on display at the shows. Sold him a spare Boone scope, that I inherited, at one show. This was before I was "into" savages (a mistake I know but he seemed to be really pleased with it)

Sadly, Mr. Murray went to his reward a few years ago.
Overall a pretty nice rifle you have there. It should give you years of enjoyment. Hard to tell in your pic, but it looks like it might have an original butt plate, or a repro of one. They were hard rubber and of the style known today as a "shotgun" buttplate. If you need one there is always one or two repros floating around eBay and GB.

It has the hard rubber style like this I didn't know if there were variations on the rubber plate as there were on the metal plates. Thanks for your assistance.

I only have the 25-35 Win. and a 99EG 300 Sav. The 1899 had a Marble tang aperture and also a buckhorn sight. Unfortunately the Marble was damaged. The aperture receiver was cracked and now is completely broken. It's a nice handy little rifle.
