First, I apologize for posting this in this section, I know it probablt belongs in another, but this is where I am most comfortable and if someone wants to move it they can do that.
I would like to hire an experienced CNC machinist and his wife to work in the office. I am quite certain that there is a family in New Orleans or Buloxie that has lost there home and jobs. I will be willing to bring them to Phoenix, put them up in a place, help them re-establish their lives, get their kids in school, make sure they have clothes and transportation and bewteen the two of them working for me they should be able to start over again. And from what I'm seeing on the news, I bet there are a lot of poeple who would move to Phoenix and never look back.
The problem is, I have no idea how to accomplish this. Red Cross can't help. I'm sure at some point there will be agencies responsible for relocating people, but the less people have to suffer the better. I guess what I'm asking is if there are any Campfire members with contacts in that part of the country that can help me accomplish this I would appreciate them contacting me.
Contributing time and money to a cause like this is always a good thing, but if I can help change the lives of one family, then I feel I have done something worth while. Thanks guys.

Kelly-- My uncle is semi-retired from Standard Oil in Pascagoula and his daughter works in the office at Ingalls Shipyard. They lost their house and two vehicles. He isn't looking for another job, but I am sure he may know someone who works at Ingalls or Standard Oil who may be looking to move. I will pass the word. Thanks, CJ

Kelly-Class Act all the way. Relief money only goes so far, to offer all this is truely inspiring. I envy the family that gets to work for such a guy.--Mike

Kelly, I am on the board of directors of our local Red Cross, and am involved with the disaster relief team. There may be a way for us to get the word out for you.
I've got another meeting on Friday with the team, and I'll bring it up and see what we can do.
If it's OK with you, I'll give out your phone number and email address.

Feel free to give out both e-mail and phone numbers. I don't mind sorting through the red tape if we can make this happen. I know my brother is open to the same thing so there may be more than one family that we can help.

I am going to talk to my bosses and see if we could do something like this. We need a CAD draftsman for surveying and civil engineering. Someone will have to be willing to relocate as in Kelley's case from the southeast to NW WY which like Phoenix would be a total different climate, culture etc.
If someone figures out how to find out people that are now looking for jobs I'll be up for it.

Part and McM, you are both class acts.

Just suggested the same thing to our CTO today. We could use a good .NET developer and there are a lot of displaced folks who we could help get on their feet and who could help us at the same time.
Big question is how?

A fine bunch of people I've encountered since I signed on in May. I don't have the where-with-all to do such a thing, but the Hospital Ass'n of Pa. is working to send teams down to help out, and I intend to be on one. Never felt quite so moved to do something, and from what I've been seeing here and in other places, neither have a lot of people. God bless the USA.

Kelly,
There may be displaced Katrina victims already in your area. My wife heard that a bunch were sent to Phoenix today.
Your efforts are more than admirable.

Now this is nice to see.
I'd look around for something here, but I'm afraid the cold would kill a Cajun!

Biguglyman Aren't the Cajun's former French Canadians anyway? I always thought they left Canada for the warmer climates and the opportunities along with some politics going on at the time. kwg
