Well here's my New Mexico black bear taken with my 300 Svg 99EG with Federal PP 180 Gr. at 143 yds with one shot in the shoulder. Bear never moved just dropped where he was shot.

I'm curious to know what the "Doubting Thomas" guide said with the DRT shot.

Thanks guys...was a great hunt! Brian, the younger guide said I was just lucky that the bear was closer than 200 yds, (had the 99 sighted in 2 inches high at 100yds). Interestingly he and his hunter did not even get a shot at a bear and his hunter was carrying a ruger 300 win mag. The guide I was with had been guiding at this ranch for over 20 years and had absolutely no doubts with the 300 Svg. There were eight hunters and six took bear with mine being the only boar. Insofar as the younger guide, I guess there are some out there you just can't convince even with the evidence.

Hey: if a 22 HP is a tiger gun..................than a 300 Savage is certainly a bear gun! Great job! Congratulations!

Congrats !! Nice bear ! My girlfriend and I both killed bears this year with the 300. We cheated though she was carrying a Remington 700 and I had my Savage Weather Warrior. Next year I am definitely taking one of my 99`s ! I just ran out of time this year to get them out and shoot them my father passed away a week before our hunt. So I went with the gun that I knew was sighted in LOL
