Bolt handle is nice. It was stainless but had Black Ice coat it too just for looks, haha.
Planning on a full range of bullets. I wanted a 9 twist, but Shaw only offers the 9.5. I've got like 7 bullets to try. Probably start with 150's though.
Went back to the nut because it makes gunsmithing cheaper, since you don't have to pay for chamber/install, and several places offer chambered Savage barrels ready to go. Still have a hankering for a 6.5-06...

dc Thats nice. Your attention to detail is impressive. If it shoots, thats all that matters. I hope it drills little ones for you.

Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

Fluting was $50, Not sure on tracking yet, find out this weekend, suppose I could try it on my bore-sighter though. Not sure, but I think SSS might even do Remington bolts, even though they are Savage specialists. Nice! You shooting on Hardscrabble this weekend? No, got a new spot with no mtn bikers, and no garbage piled up everywhere. Thanks for all the compliments. Need to reiterate to everyone that building on a Savage wasn't my first choice. This was my very first centerfire (and only Savage) that I purchased 25 years ago, so I cannot get rid of it, but it needed a makeover. Have to admit, so easy to soup up a Savage, that perhaps I need to troll for another action. You can pick up a used gun for $250.

Don't keep apologising for building on a Savage!!
Proof is in the shooting an I haven't built up a bad one yet.
Gotta love the caliber choice , IMO you are set for anything you want to hunt.
Good job.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with Salvages. My two top pets are that evil, neglected, unclassy brand.
They were engineered before engineering was cool.

Yep, that turned out nice and I bet it'll shoot, too. It probably feels about the same in the hands as my 7mm WSM does.

Nothing there to apologize for partner. That's a heck of a stick and I'd be more than a little proud to have it in my safe. The sentimental attachment just makes it cooler.

Thanks. Hope to try it out tomorrow. Will post results. Lots of memories with this gun. It was also my coyote gun back before I could afford a varmint rifle. Used to shoot accelerators through it.

I'm liking the rig. Looks good. You could name it the UPT (Ultimate Polished Turd) and refer to it at the UPT build with specs listed on the blueprint thread.
