Awesome! I'd load up more of the same load as in the pic, shoot a few groups, verify adequate and consistent velocity, and if they're similar in size run with it. Then I'd head on down to the Best of the West Range near you and stretch it out.

John,

Bet you are tickled and glad you went 260. You found a great load fast, good rifle, good brass/load, not surprised, congrats!

Now you might have to let everyone fight over the 1885 you will be selling! LOL.

I much prefer uninterrupted straight flutes, but the rifle doesn't have to make me happy.

Somehow I don't think he'll be selling the Low wall, too much good history with that one.

I know, I kick myself for not buying 2-3 that had fantastic wood, for 1/3 of what they ask for them now.

It's fine though, my Borden sporter will be finished in a couple of months if all goes as planned. Won't have to worry about scratching my McSwirly either smile

Nope that one's never leaving for several reasons:

1. My wife of nearly 27 years now, gave it to me.
2. I had my single best day of hunting ever with that rifle.
3. It's lightweight and shoots pretty good.
4. It's a thing of beauty to just look at and admire.

Don't know if i'll make it down to Austin this weekend, but I'm definitely going to verify and chrono some loads. Going long will have to wait to next weekend.

Nice rifle! 260 is one of my favorite calibers. My 260 likes 45g of H4350 under 130's but it's a hot load so work up if you try it.

That's very similar to what I have in the works right now for a 300 wsm with a predator and a #4 interrupted flute Brux. I have the parts together I just need to pick someone to put it together and send it in.

I'm curious about your base ring set up. I didn't order the stiller base either because I thought it was too tall. Which Burris ones did you run?

Also, what kind of problems did you have with the Wyatt's box? I have one for the 300 wsm.

I'm sure that 260 will shoot. My 243 on an 8 twist light palma interrupted flute Brux shoots great.

I know you want every .00001" you can get but don't spend the barrel life at 100 yards.

Burris XTB Weaver Style Bases.

Mike couldn't get the 3" Wyatt's box to feed. Said the rear of the cartridges were too low in the Wyatt's Box for the Bolt to Pick them up. Spent quite a bit of time trying to get the Wyatt magazine box lips adjusted to make it feed well, but it just didn't work. He ended up fabricating a 3" box fro me from an '06 length 700 box.

A couple more pics for those interested. They don't do it justice. Now I'm thinking I need a better camera...
