I have a Remington 700 XCR II that I will be putting a 3x9x40 VX II on. However, I want to use a quick release rings that I can take on/off w/o tools. I like the Talleys that have the lever system and the Warne look good too. Does anyone use either of these? Is there something else that may be better?

I've got Talleys on 2 scopes for my .25-06. Very easy to swap out, and holds POI. No complaints. Haven't tried any other QD rings.

Can't go wrong with either the vertical split Warne QD or the Warne made Leupold QRW. The vertical rings are a little more challenge to mount, but have one less piece than the horizontal types. The top half of Leupold QRWs kinda pop down over the scope tube and can scratch the finish if not careful. Both return to zero very well and are quality, US made products. Pick up some Warne rings and closely inspect, they really are well finished. These will work with most any Weaver or Picatinny mounts and offer versatility lost with the Talley's proprietary mount. All are overbuilt stout as hell mounting options. OT

I have Talley QD rings on a 458 Lott and they work well.
I have a BUNCH of Warne QD rings and I have no complaints about them except at times the little aluminum piece on the bottom of the rings at secures them in place on the comes out. I've sent a couple back to Warne to be fixed which was done promptly with no hassle. I've used them on rifles up to 300 Win. Mag. with complete satisfaction. When I tried them on a 378 Weatherby, after detaching and reattaching the scope the first couple of shots would be high so I ended up going with permanent Warne rings for that rifle.
I tried Leupold QD rings once on a 375 H&H Magnum and they shot loose. In general I like Leupold products and others have had good experiences with their QD rings so perhaps my experience was just bad luck.
The best QD rings I have are Blaser but unfortunately that doesn't help you.

My 2 sets of Leupold QD rings have been in use for about 7 or 8 years and have been trouble free. They return to zero very well.

I like the Leupold QRW myself.

Leup QR system on 270's & 35 Whelens have proven themselves reliable & repeatable over the last 4 or 5 seasons. Impressed that the supplied base screws have been precisely the correct length and all holes exactly where they were supposed to be.

I have Warne and even a set of old Kimber levers. They both work well, are repeatable, and look good to boot. That said, plain old time-trued Weavers are hard to beat and every bit as reliable in repeating POI. But you DO need a tool--a quarter or nickel in your pocket.

I've been using Leupold QR's on two rifles with no issues at all. I like the smaller levers that Leupold uses compared to most other makes.

I had a set of Talley's on my .375H&H, and couldn't have been happier. I havent used any of the others, so I can't comment on them, but you won't be dissappointed with Talley QD's.

I've used Leupolds QR and Talleys....No problems with either, but I confess...For .338WM and up, I prefer the Talleys...

How do you know when you have the Leupold levers cinched down enough?

I have a set of Warnes on my 375 H&H mag, Ruger no. 1. They are very repeatable and did great on my African safari, last August.

My Marlins all have Warne rings. No complaints.
