Campfire amigos,

Just curious as to how comfortable anyone is with having significant portions of 401-k's and 403-b's in non-FDIC investments, when close to retirement. In an age of economic uncertainty like we have now, it seems risky to have life-savings in non-insured accounts, though I know it is common with variable annuities and etc.
