I keep coming across these ads in the American Rifleman for the Rossi Ranch Hand: Don't want to step on anyone's toes but I would not want to waste my $$ on one, let alone hand it down to my kids. What the hay is this thing for anyways? MtnHtr

I thought about that but did the ranch hand exist back in the gunfighter days? Or was it a Hollywood getup?
Bet Sam Olson would not pack one! (grin)

It's for people who want to pretend to be Steve McQueen in the old Wanted Dead or Alive series.

Steve didn't need a gimmick to be cool, but it didn't hurt either.

What the hay is this thing for anyways? To drive home the point of never setting your rifle down on the railroad tracks.
If I'm wrong, I'll admit it. If I don't reply further, I'm satisfied with my side of the "debate." ...nuff said.

Henry makes one in 45 Colt called "The Mare's Leg." Cost is greater than $800 in Canada. Wow!

They really are coming up with some stupid-looking guns lately, aren't they?
Another one I wonder about is the revolving rifle. What would the cylinder spit feel like on your arm?

With the appropriate tax stamp, would make a very handy truck gun with the addition of a regular stock.

They have a couple at a gun shop around here. They look as funky in real life as they do in magazines and the feel isn't very good. But they usually don't carry too much that doesn't sell - maybe they know something.

I see little utility in it. But that hasn't stopped folks from buying stuff.

You could save yourself a bundle by not bying the very expensive and worthless as all get out "Mare's Leg", skip the tax stamp and end up with a better overall rifle if you just bought a Winchester 94 trapper. Below 16" the .30-30 really loses a lot of steam and muzzle blast is HORRIBLE.
