I stalked yesterday int an area, taking about three steps and then stopping. I finally sat on the edge of a good swamp area, and a small flock of turkeys worked thru. I had been sitting there 25 minutes, and this girl showed up, she weighed 128 pounds. Gun used was a DPMS LR-308

Idaho 2011 Got this guy Opening Day of General Rifle. We backpacked in about 5 miles from basecamp..... was borderline on it until he turned and I saw all his junk. 13 scorable points (9 X 4 counting eye guards) with a bunch of junk down around his bases shooting out behind his head etc.... pretty funky. 26 in. outside spread. Surpised that he had about 25 inch main beams and 12 inch G4's. His backs are weak though, but he has a few extra points. Reminded me of a whitetail a bit on his right side....the way the points came out of the main beam, and the size of his main eye guard on the right. Left had a nice G2, but no G3. Right side G2 is a shorty with a little 1 inch G3. Funny, looking straight at me, his right side goes out right way more than his left side goes left. He won't be spreading any more of his funky genes around (although he was with 2 doe when I shot him). I suspect he'll gross in the 160's even with weak backs. I'll need to get a better shot of the junk around his bases, kind of cool.

First year in 26 years that I didn't get a permit to hunt deer here in Utah. Major bummer to say the least. Kinda understand how that works tried 4 different draws and left overs and still didn't get a any deer tag(buck) but did score some antlerless any deer tags. My buck hunt this year ended with the antelope... Magnum Man

That's a bruiser..:) Here's mine this year. Not huge compared to some of the guys running around the spot I hunted but he'll do. Hunted the big boys for a week and couldn't connect. Saw this one skylined early in the day. Made a quick move into 300 yards. He followed a doe to 175 yards and his day ended. The pack is covering the entry wound. It was a total bang-flop. When I recovered from the recoil he was his side and I could see a blood spot behind his leg. Here's why he went down so quick. That was a heart.

Got this guy about noon today. NOICE! Cool Beans Sammo! I let a couple eligible whitetail walk by me this weekend, killed an antelope Tuesday so I got that initial blood lust out of my system....and will be looking to fill a doe tag soon......

Thanks fellars, first time in a long time that I've got a buck on opening day. One of the healthiest deer I've ever shot also, inch plus of fat over his rump and back, big bodied heavy mulie.
Whitetail doe coming up here as well, as soon as it cools off a little anyway. Warm and windy again today but maybe snow Tuesday morning I guess.

Does that tell you anything?
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

Hey you guys, don't forget to post your rifle, cartridge and bullet info. That adds to your good field results.

Thanks Paul, it was fun hunt! 'Whoop, Sako A7 in 300 WSM and a 180 Partition, 6x42LR FX3. Deer was bouncing straight away, bullet entered the back of his neck and actually split his lower jaw as it excited the mouth. Dropped like a ton of bricks. Used a piece of cord to tie his mouth shut for the pic, looked a little tough otherwise. I had an excellent makeshift rest with a nearby flat rock otherwise I wouldn't have taken the shot. Buck died just to the left and slightly below the juniper on the skyline. Lots of good hunts on this thread, fun to see how everybody is doing!
