I doubt it since the ammo is really scarce up here. Seems like once a box or two hits the shelves it is gone. 375 Ruger is a reloaders-only type of cartridge. You can get a rifle all day long, but factory ammo not so much.

I see Howa is offering the 375 Ruger in the Model 1500.

I see two other makers chamber the .375 Ruger, so I expect popularity will grow given the number of rifles Ruger has sold and is selling. I sold my H&Hs after I used my M77 Hawkeye African a bit, and fixed things I didn't like about it...jim

Jim, what didn't you like about the Hawkeye that you decided to change?

I didn't like the operation of the safety lever (it is short so it takes two motions to go from SAFE to FIRE); the barrel fouling (Dyna Bore Coat fixes that); and the trigger was not ideal (replaced parts with polished items).

It might also get a McM. Hunter Ruger stock, but that is not really necessary...

Good buddy of mine has had ammo on backorder since April. I think it is a wonderful cartridge but I am not hot on one mfg having exclusive rights.

You better hand load or settle for what might be available.

We don't have patented ammunition in the US: we do have SAAMI standards for a reason...jim

I tweaked mine also but really like the platform generally--compact, accurate--and I really like the cartridge. However, it be nice if Ruger could silk up their actions a bit ala a Tikka or Sako.

I figure I will spend about 4 hours operating a new bolt action rifle, perhaps more with dry practice. Run the bolt, operate safety, pull trigger...repeat. It is something I do during football games if I am not tying steelhead snells. wink

It will smooth up operation of the safety and the trigger quite a bit, as well as the bolt travel. My .375 Ruger went from 6 pounds and a bit to 4 pounds and a tad, then I installed the polished parts.

Around here you can find 375 H&H ammo everywhere. One more check on it's side of the ledger.
