Ron Paul represents what the Republican Party used to claim it stood for, and what Conservatism has traditionally stood for, and still does to its authentic adherents.

there is always a way to marginalize that concern and that is appeal to the Ron Paul conservatives.

Of course Romney, Cain and Perry will not and they'll lose 10-15% of the GOP vote, along with a [bleep] of independents because they are so arrogant they think there are only two choices when you pull the lever on election day.

There are two assumptions here that are going to get Obama elected

1. That anyone as an alternative to Obama is better than Obama
2. That whoever gets the GOP nomination will have the entire GOP base vote.

People can piss and moan about Ron Paul's and his followers or you can accept the reality that those assumptions are wrong.

Until the media and the GOP accept that Ron Paul is a viable candidate and his followers represent a significant number (and if you think they don't when why would you care if he ran 3rd party) and are addressed accordingly then this is a stalemate that isn't going anywhere.

So keep ostracizing the RP followers, keep attempting to tell them how crazy they are and then keep wondering out loud why they are so willing to take their ball and go home.

I am not a "Paulista", "Paultard", or whatever you want to call one of Ron Paul's blind followers. Candidate Paul has some serious issues. For the sake of argument, one can leave out the subjective stuff, such as how good his hair is or whether or not his voice is squeaky. There are some legitimate questions that nobody has really answered, such as the continued milking of followers with no big advance in the polls. There is the issue of years and years of government employ with very little to show for it on the national scene.

OTOH, Paul is the only candidate who is actually pro-freedom. For gun people on a gun site, it is astounding that Paul has so little support. He has absolutely the best record on guns of any candidate with a [bleep]'s chance of winning. That's including Gov. Goodhair. Paul has the only viable plan for balancing the budget as well as the only one that doesn't specifically target the middle class. Those ostensibly for our freedom can't get past the thought that Paul might actually let some dude pay a woman for sex...legally. Perish the thought that somebody in this country would actually be sexually immoral! They are instead willing to give their votes to assclownish caricatures who have proven time and again they will say they are pro-gun then ignore all the opportunities for rolling back draconian laws while working to dismantle checks and balances keeping the rich from simply looting the treasury.

Paul is not being childish or malevolent here. What he is implying is that whether you elect another RINO to replace Obama or not we are at the point where the country as we know it will cease to exist if we simply kick the can some more. It would be a last ditch effort to save the Republic.

While Perry and Romney try to outdo one another in the arena of saying whatever bs it takes to get elected, Cain is the unknown quantity who is truly Perot-like and Bachman, Santorum and Gingrich all vie for cabinet, Veep or ambassadorships. Paul's supporters feel that if given the opportunity on the national stage, he can pull votes from Obama. None of the other candidates can do that. Some can pull votes that are undecided, but none can pull votes from the real left.

There it is.

Sadly, that may be what it takes to let the progressives finish their destruction of the country & make the pain too unbearable to continue ignoring the cause.

It seems as though it just isn't bad enough, yet, for the GOP to seek answers, instead of running on their recycled RINO platform & then wailing about the extremists that ruined their chances when a guy like Romney, McCain & their ilk are the actual problem and continue to lose, yet the alternatives are somehow "Unelectable". Ninja, PLEASE..

Not a Paul fan, but if he shocks the GOP into opening their eyes after yet another azz whippin' by the commies, it'll be a bitter pill, but in the long (VERY long) run it may be the only way to start beating back some of the damage that has been done for so many decades.

A third party would likely doom us to at least another generation of the always failed socialist experiment. Never underestimate the stubbornness and arrogance of the elites. It is epic.

Yeah you're right. That is why when he was in practice as an OB in Texas he delivered babies for free rather than taking Federal dollars.

What Ron Paul did before politics

There are a couple of candidates I'd vote for as President in this primary, but I don't believe that the debate over who will be the GOP candidate is served by RP saying he'll step aside. RP's stances need to be part of any debate over who the presumably (if only relatively) conservative party puts up as a nominee. Why the Party can't recognize the problems with milktoast pansies like Romney & Perry but choose to run down men like Paul instead is beyond me.

Put a loser like McCain up and guess what...

Oh but wait, insanity must NOT be doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, cuz the GOP faithful ain't insane... no... not at all...

Rest assured that if Ron Paul wins the Republican nomination, I will vote for him. I will not vote for him in the primary because of his lack of foreign policy. I wish everyone else would see that this is the path to getting rid of Obama. Vote who you want, in the primary but be sure to vote, and vote against Obama in November. miles

What about voting for Romney and then hoping that Congress keeps his anti-gun tendencies in check. Same thing with Cain. To me, Congress is much more likely to keep Paul's supposed foreign policy deficits in check than they are to not collude with a RINO on a new AWB or whatever.

Actually I think Palin will is more apt to run 3rd party ticket. Maybe grab Cain or RP as VP. Any of the three in any order works for me.

Whatever the case, I done decided no more lesser of two evils, no more piece of chit flip-flop artists, no more lib-lite pukes, etc. None of it.

If it's Romney a Tea party candidate on the ballot (any of them) is the only way my ballot will change from my sig line. Barring that, it's Dead Cat for me from here on out.

I've had enough. And I think a lot of other Americans have, too. Perhaps even a majority of them. I've got a feeling we're going to find out...

Air time traffic is picking up about third party consideration and/or brokered conventions.
Look at the low approval ratings for Congress an well as for Obama.

On both sides of the aisle. Carville just said nobody can win with Obamas numbers, but he may be blowing smoke just to fake out the other side.
But if Obama has a double recession on his hands by now and next spring

I caught a small part of Greta last night talking to Trump about third party.
How many times has he hyped up that stuff?

The part I saw seemed to be more about Donald supporting a third party candidate rather than running himself.
With his usual $hit eating grin on his face

That was when Greta put up on the screen what Palin actually said:

After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States.

Palin has said a lot in the past few months about the GOP and crony capitalism.

If it comes to a brokered conventionHuckabee comes to mindas does Cain and Gingrich cooking up a delegate sharing deal to stop Romney.

C and G together would be Obammas worst nightmare

But come to think about itso would Palin and Huckabee.

There are some things I do NOT like about RP.
But they pale compared to things I do not like about McRomney.

I was pissed about McCain. Palin is the only thing about the R ticket that got my support.

I hadn't seen or read that yet. I heard that she was "not running" but "not running" and "not seeking R nomination" are two COMPLETELY different things. This gives me hope!

I knew there was something still going on with Palin. Now I understand it better.

Is that an exact quote?

I think it's time for a third party. The Tea Party.
Team R has proven their worth. People aren't going to take this lesser of two evils chit anymore and they're not going to take the establishment R chit any more nor the "slower path to destruction than Team D". Dangle a rotten carrot like McRomney in front of the tortoise, once again, simply because it's "better than XXXXXXXX" ain't going to cut it.

Team R had their chance. They chit in their own bed again and again. Time for change. "Unconventional campaign" keeps ringing in my ears.

Team R fears conservatives more than Team D.
Team D hates them more, but Team R fears.

As in deathly afraid...

did you take a retard pill today? he's not running for Congress, he's running for president. Maxine
Waters is a congressman. Cynthia McKinney was a congressman. so what?

let me get it down to retard level for you.....when Ron Paul wins a republican presidential primary, or even comes in second in a primary, then perhaps he will be taken seriously as a candidate. until he does, he's just a goofy old guy with irritating fans who think he's super groovy and awesome.
