I've been trying to get Mama up there for a few years now. I'm hoping this is the year.

I drove past a gas station that said "welcome outdoors enthusiasts" on an electronic banner.

I think they mean "welcome hunters"

Political correctness just looks plain stupid sometimes.

No, not hunters,

"Welcome Bambi Murderers!" smile

Even down here, we haven't stooped that low.

Surprising number of pheasant hunters out last weekend. As bad as it was predicted to be, we did alright and had fun while we were at it.

The rut is pretty much on down here - at least from the bucks' points of view. I should go back to Murdering Bambi with sticks so I could be deer hunting now.

I really haven't seen any rut sign yet myself. Of course our deer numbers are low too.

Nothing around here, only one guy reported a scrape about a week and a half ago.

The bucks on our field have dropped out of sight but the does are all still lounging out there like it is corona time on the beach.

Only found two rubs.

It doesnt matter though, cause in 4 and a wakeup we'll be hunting.

I have a Hastings fully rifled barrel with cantilever scope mount. I shoot Federal Premium Barnes Expander 1900 fps slugs. My dad has EXACTLY the same setup and it shoots exactly the same. Big ol'stinky buck has no chance vs these guns. Big ol' stinky buck may have chance against the shooters though! whistle

I have wanted one of these for my collection since the first time I rode in one.

This machine is coming from your neck of the woods Grizzly Bill. About an hour away.

Where WB? I don't recall ever seeing one of that vintage in WI

My gunsmith and I went to the lease for an afternoon hunt.I set the chair blind up on an intersection of logging roads where I could see a fair distance down each road. There was a deer killed there last week but none were moving in that vicinity this afternoon.I don't get all baboon azzed any more when I don't see anything.I just REALLY enjoy getting out.
This afternoon I was hunting with my deceased friend's Winchester 94 in .32 Win.Special which rifle is now mine.Tom was like a brother to me and I to him for about 50 years.
The weather here is getting colder. My fleece jacket was very comfortable late in the afternoon.

Stan,

thanks for sharing. How long does your season run? I too enjoy just getting out, even if I just sit. It's very cool that you can use your frends rifle. That is special. I hope you get to tag one with it.
