Why would anybody shoot a 25-anything, when they could have a 270?

Currently, 257 Roberts and a 257 Wby. Dad has a 25 WSSM and I have owned 3 25-06's over the years.

Browning A-Bolt Micro Hunter in 257 Roberts. Deer & hogs Duckbill - how is this rifle shooting for you? Sweet shooting little setup. The short action limits me to 110 and smaller loads, but that's not all bad. I have several nice hunting loads with 100gr pills that are shooting just outside 1/2" groups.

Simplyme, was that a suggestion for me? Or just the Roberts abreviation? Bob
Thanks, Bob Too many calibers and not enough time for the working man to hunt with them all.

Why would anybody shoot a 25-anything, when they could have a 270? Cuz God didn't make everybody equal! He made some of us smarter, and for the rest...he made 270's.

I have a 257 AI & a Weatherby Mag.
The AI takes everything from groundhogs to coyotes to deer. My Roy hasn't been bloodied yet, but just returned from Colorado where my Aunt attempted to fill a cow elk tag with it but was unsuccessful.
The AI'll go w/ my mentee w/ us to deer camp, and my Roy w/ me for the same time.

Had "Redneck" build this one for me. Had it built primarily for deer but plan on taking it on a hunt somewhere in years to come. I've had it 2 weeks and STILL haven't got it to the range yet. Work, weather and work..but it WILL make it to the range this week ! I'm cleaning it for the first time rite now, have some loads worked up so break-in time is upon me. I'm ready to send some down range.!!! Model 70 Short Action, 21" Pac Nor Stainless Match. Action trued,Bedded, floated, lugs lapped and a trigger job. Talley Light-weights and a Leupold 2.5-8x36

I have three quarter bores. An 1892 saddle ring carbine that has killed boat loads of ground hogs, Gray and Fox Squirrels and cottontail rabbits and two bobs which have taken a bunch of deer.
My first Bob, a 1980s Winchester Featherweight, killed over a hundred deer during regular hunting seasons and many many more for biological data and population control for the KY Dept. of Fish and Wildlife Resources. Unfortunately, that rifle was lost in a fire.
Saw a Remington 700 Classic in 250-3000 the other day which I may have to acquire, and may re-barrel a NULA .338/06 to .25/06. I love the quarter bores!

Why would anybody shoot a 25-anything, when they could have a 270? Real man don't need to compensate for bore size

'03 in 257AI gets used a fair bit. It and I like Sierra 117 Pro Hunters. I also have a 110 in 250, a pre 64 in 250AI and a Siamese in 25AKI.

Pretty tough to beat a 25.06 on whitetails and muleys. More one shot, DRT over 20 years than with any other caliber, including .300 WM. But my Rem. Varminter was getting a tad bit heavier each year for some reason, so I fixed her up for the range.

KyWindageII - that's one heck of a track record, and a doggone shame that the rifle was lost.

What?? No love for the 25ACP around here? Just picked one up recently in the Baby Browning pattern Colt. Haven't had any range time with it yet. Nobody ever seems to share pet loads for the 25ACP. Which bullet should I be using for long range Muleys?
