I saw an interesting rifle at a gun dealer yesterday. It was the twin of the MOdel 70 extreme weather but instead of SS it was blued. I did not know FN was making these.

They made a very few specifically for a few vendors in only a couple of calibers. I've read of a couple of guys who bought them but forgot where.

They are not on their website.

I asked the counter person a question and they said they were a regular Winchester Item. He did not know what he was talking about evidently. I have seen them no where else...I am looking at one in a WSM

Are they less expensive or the same as the SS version?

I held one of those rifles just a couple of days ago. I think it was a 270 WSM but i think they had a 300 wsm as well. As far as price it was at least 100 less than the SS version. But it still had the fluted barrel and the same stock. I liked it but my play fund is running pretty low right now so it stay there at Sportmans.

I bought one at Sportman's Warehouse in Thornton, CO a few months ago in 270 WSM for $650. I have not shot it yet. They had 270 WSM and 300 WSM.

They could be testing the water a bit to see how well they sell. Could become a regular production item. May be already, just not yet listed on their website.

Extreme Sporter is what I have seen a few selling as. Identical to the EW except blued barrel and a hundred or two less.

I called Winchester before I bought mine. They said they were a special run done last year for the Summer Blast.

We need pics. Remember it didn't happen unless you have pics to prove it..... grin. No, I just want to see what it looks like. I've heard of these weird rifles but have never seen one before. Probably looks just like my FN PBR XP though. SO they are called "extreme sporters" huh???? And 10 pounds to boot (maybe that includes the box and paperwork??)..I think I'll just stick with my FN PBR XP which has the oldstyle trigger but still has that FN quality, plus it is less expensive. Only makes sense to me. wink

You said you wanted to see what it looked like, and there is a photo of the real deal. But in simpler terms, it looks like a black Extreme Weather laugh

Personally, I like the look of the fluted barrel so I would choose the Extreme Sporter over the Coyote.

I hear you. I really like my FN PBR XP which looks a lot like my extreme weather but with a different stock on it (and blued). One of these days I'll probably slap that in an edge too and be done with it.

There's one sitting on a shelf 15 minutes from where I'm sitting now. Picked it up and handled it half a dozen times, feels better than the Extreme Weathers I've picked up. It's in 300 Win Mag, if the shop that has it wasn't a bunch of d*cks I'd own it now.
