Which hunting weapon/ammo results in more wounded deer?

Arrows, buckshot, smoothbore slugs, handguns or .22 centerfire rifles.

None of the above.

Not the weapon, but the person who does not make a good shot on the animal.

It is the person who is responcible for lost critters. The weapon can factor into the equation if the person doesn't practice enough due to cost, recoil, physical effort needed, etc.

I don't like buckshot due to lack of a good blood trail IMO. So, I don't use it anymore.

The award should not be very big.

The one where you don't hit them right. They all work.

Pick the most popular cart and that's your answer. The spray and pray bunch seem to cripple piles of them every year.

Whichever one is in the hands of someone with little skill and even less good judgement.

No need for blood trail, I've never seen a deer get further than about 50 yards with buckshot. I can find them awful easy if they are taht close. So could Ray Charles.

If you mean a greater percentage overall, then it most popular rifle chambering. If it is percentage by category, it would be archery. But since way more are shot with a rifle than a bow, the rifle wins. Luckily a larger percentage of animals wounded by archery gear than most would guess survive and recuperate. At least that is my guess and I am sticking with it until someone proves me wrong......which very well may happen.

might be just anecdotal, but I believe bow hunters lose more deer than gun hunters do.

Shotguns seem to be less effective at a clean kill than rifles.

I'm betting that the highest percent of bubbu hunting goes on during rifle season. If a guy can get into bow range odds are he's done a little bit of practice with his bow. The archers I know are all fanatics. The rifle hunters may or may not be.

Without hard numbers it's all speculation anyway.

this I have seen, I have hunted for many more of the walking dead and yet usually never found deer when a bow and arrow is involved.

I believe it must be the turdy-turdy and the turdy ought six. Those seem to be most popular deer cartridges among clueless idgits.
