Dober

Bull Chit.........

Yeah if you get the perfect broadside and hit no bone or a head shot.....

How many Elk have you seen shot with 110 grain bullets to make such a statement?Kinda like 130's in the '06..No way jose and I saw it with good shots.

Just my opinion having seen many/many Elk killed with the 270 Win.

Jayco

Off the med's again I see... tackling Dober's experience with the 270 and elk may be one of the dumber things you've done, and you certainly have done a lot of dumb things on this forum.

How many elk have YOU lost with a 110?

If you don't think a Barnes 110 will smoke a bull then you're dumber than you appear...and that's saying something.

tackling Dober's experience with the 270

If his exceeds mine,I shall kneel and give way,but it doesn't...Why is it anyone that disagree's with the Montana boys, there all the sudden on meds and don't know squat about anything?

Dober is not the first and last word about the 270 Winchester..Others have as much or more experience with that caliber.

Just my opinion....

Jayco - I don't have any real argument about that. IMO the 150s aren't much heavy for caliber in the 270.

JOC used the 150s quite a bit, 58-59 grs. of Surplus 4831 and vel. 2900-3000 depending upon rifle & barrel. He like the 150s for heavier game IIRC and I remember that he did use a 130 on Moose at least once.

The OP simply asked about the chronod vel. of factory Federals w/150 partitions. He didn't state his intended purpose. I'd predict that no one could tell the difference between 130 and 150 grain Partitions, at least most of the time.

To each his own...I merely stated what I have seen with the 270 Win having used it for over 50 years plus Grandpa and Dad and a few others...Back in those days it was the only alternative to the '06....

The last time I used the 270 I was using Federal 140 grain High Energy Trophy Bonded and it cleanly shot a nice 6X6 penetrating farther than my Noslers usually do,but that is hard to judge on slightly different angles and it smashed a nice Buck the next day..

The 270 Win is highly underestimated with 130 grain bullets, mostly because of the internet..

Thanx for keeping it civil...

I was born and raised in Oklahoma actually. Moved here in junior high about 27 years and 20 or so elk ago. Is there a reason for your inquiry?

PLEASE drop this foolish argument lest everyone else think all people in Idaho are ignorant blowhards.

Let me help you...

Dear Campfire,

Let me state for the record that most Idahoans are fully aware that a 110 Barnes will kill any elk walking this planet with little drama.

If Dober will come on here and say he has seen personaly a sufficent number(by John Barsness standards) of Elk killed with the 270 Win and 110,120,130,135,140,150,160 bullets.............

I will publicly appologize..........

None with a 110.

Never killed one with a .338 Win and 210 partitions either,... yet I remain open to the idea it can be done.

Then again I'm not the one calling "bullchit" on dudes I've never met about using bullets I've never tried.

At what cost?

I called Bull Chit because Dober has "Not" seen numorous Elk killed with the bullet weight's he said..I said numorous because John Barsness has told us,a couple don't tell us anything....

I also stated,I will appologize right here, if Dober backs his statement up with experiences in every weight he said.I will take his word if he post it.........

At the cost of elk steaks?

I've killed enough game with TSXs and TTSXs to know what they do. One of those things is killing elk.

If you need JB to tell you what a sufficient sample size is...uhhh, well, uhhh...best of luck with that.

Me, I just go try things and see for myself.

A Barnes TTSX would indeed "smoke" an Elk in short order

I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

I am NOT one of those who underestimate the 270 w/130 gr. bullets. I don't remember how many 270s I have had and I have 3 or 4 now. I got my first one in 1975 or 76? The Gun or 130s have NEVER disappointed me.

I believe that JOC and others have PROVEN its worthiness everywhere it's appropriate for the game.

per civility: You're Welcome, nothing is to be gained in arguing and name calling.

Geez................

Lets here some "actual" experiences using the bullets and weights mentioned in the 270 Win,not internet talk like..It should work....Give me a break...

Elk hunting offers some real challenges sometimes to even the best bullets and anyone who says a bullet will work without actual experience in all circumstances using that bullet and caliber,is full of chit!!!!

Sometimes.

If you want civility and for people to not call you names (idiot and such)...then don't call "bullchit" on dudes you don't know discussing bullets you haven't used.

Man I'm helpful!

Please answer my previous question about your concerns regarding my state of origin...unless you asked the question simply because you want to know the intimate details of my childhood.

I called Bull Chit with the option of Dober proving what he said with experiences on all those bullet weights in the 270....Then I would or will appologize...

He won't and can't from experience so........Who is wrong?
