My own .25 caliber line-up includes a Savage 23 in .25-20. This one is used mostly for small game (is GREAT for squirrels and rabbits) and close range varmits. It has taken a couple of hogs and one deer, but is really too small for such use on a regular basis.
My favorite .25 is a Savage 99 in .250-3000. This one has a bit of history as it was the last rifle my father used before he died. Since then it has taken deer and hogs for me, my daughters and grandkids......four generations using the same rifle. Total deer killed since it's been in the family is more than 50....and who knows how many fell to previous owners.
My newest (to me anyway) is a Ruger 77 in .25-06. So far it's only taken a single hog and two deer, but I have bigger plans for the future. This gun was bought to be used primarilly for Pronghorn.
In the past I've used other .25 caliber rifles to hunt....25-35, .257 Roberts, .257 Weatherby and once a .25-284 wildcat. It's kind of odd that I've used the .25 calibers so effectively as I am at heart a bigger-bore kind of guy. Generally my "deer" rifles start with the .30-06. Somehow, even though they get a lot less woods time, good things just seem to happen when I have one of the "little" guns in my hands.
I hate change, it's never for the better.... Grumpy Old Men The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know

What?? No love for the 25ACP around here? Just picked one up recently in the Baby Browning pattern Colt. Haven't had any range time with it yet. Nobody ever seems to share pet loads for the 25ACP. Which bullet should I be using for long range Muleys? Sure, I have two stainless Ravens. I keep them both squeaky clean. If anyone forgets to bring their gun to a gun fight I can give them one of those.

I just put together my first (and only, as of now) .25 cal rifle this spring. I went 25-06AI and it's only been used this season for Antelope by both the wife and I. It's just a 23" pacnor barreled "faux-ti" but I really like it so far and it loves the 100NBT. I'll use it on whitetail this season and don't expect it to bounce off any.

Off for a Wooly Mammoth hunt in the morning, must rest up a bit. http://www.ammo-one.com/297-250Rook.html

Wooly Mammoth with a 56gr Lead Solid? You'll need more than "a bit of rest". Thanks for that link, cool little ctg.

257 Weatherby sub-moa model. First quarter bore I have owned. Haven't shot anything but paper so far.

I have a pre 64 Model 70 in 257 Roberts. Also, two red pad, tang safety Ruger UL 77s in 250 Savage and 257 Roberts. Also, a 257 Wby mag in a Weatherby Mark V Lasermark. Recently purchased a Kimber Montana in 257 Roberts, which is the only one that I have hunted with.
Killed two antelope last month in Wyoming with the Montana.

Remington Sportsman 78 I rebarreled with a take-off 25-06 barrel I picked up off the internet (might have even been here at the Fire). It's killed a slew of antelope and this year got a coyote too.

Came home from the fun show today with a 25-06 Ruger 77 Mark II Target Rifle.... Did I just say Ruger 77 and Target Rifle in the same sentence! What are things coming to? So far I am hunting for an excuse! Really - just trying to be more open minded, first CRF... Thinking that 26" 1in10" should work....

Early on this 257Roberts was a built up 700 LA Mountain Rifle, barreled up by Bevan King in BC. ...... later morphed into a faux TI.

donsm70 Hardcore! I always liked the Ruger RL's... had two in 257 Rbt's, but not in 250 Savage. Also had an M77 RSI in 250 Savage. Also two Kimber 84M's in 257 Rbt's. Neither shot exceptionally, but would go under an inch with a few loads. If I ever get another Rob, it'll be a Kimber 84L MT re-barrel... match the factory contour and cut to 23"... likely a 6 grove 1-9".

I see the 257 Roberts is very popular with us 25 cal guys. I have only had mine out to the range this year because of health issues. Next years hunting season will be a different story. Keep em cumming guys and gals.
