I have a 336A with a 24-inch barrel and a half magazine. I'd like to put a scope on it but need to know what Weaver base to purchase. The rifle appears to be factory drilled and tapped.

Everything you now do is something you have chosen to do. Some people don't want to believe that. But if you're over age twenty-one, your life is what you're making of it. To change your life, you need to change your priorities.

I found a 63A in my parts box and attached it with some 8x40 screws and then mounted a 3X Leupold in regular Weaver rings.

Today I took the rifle to the range along with a box of Federal Hi-Shok 150-grain loads. After getting on paper at 25 yards, I fired a 3-shot group at 100 yards and it measured 1 1/8" C-T-C. I then adjusted the scope for a 2-inches high point of impact. The second group was 2 1/16", probably because of some lag or backlash in the scope adjustments.

Anyway, the rifle is hitting where I want it to and accuracy is acceptable so I quit right there.

I went with the full receiver length picatinny base. I only wished they would make a shorter XS version with the rear peep built in...

Go with the Talley and don't look back.
They are 1/4" strong from the bottom of the base to to the bottom of the ring.

Evolution Gun Works makes a nice Pic rail for the Marlins.

I do like the look of those Talleys though...
