I have found that H4831sc starting at 57 grains and working up to 60 grains worked best in my rifle using hornady 139sst's. No pressure signs and accuracy instantly went to around 1 inch at 57 grains after no success with RL19. The accuracy node for my rifle appears to be around 59 grains with sub moa performance.

I would think that combination would work well on white tail deer.

I have been using the Hornady 139 BTSP with IMR-4350. Shoots within an inch and is boringly consistent.

120 NBT or 120 (T)TSX over however much RL-15 your rifle will take.

Both are death on deer.

59grs of R-19 and a 139 Hornady put down a lot of whitetails in my 280s. Runs around 3150 from a 24" Rem. 700.

I've had good luck with RL-19 running 160 ABs and Berger 168 VLDs. 53.8gr of RL-19 is getting me just shy of 2850fps out of a 24" tube with the 168 bergers.

I've had good luck with...
nosler 150gr b-tip
54.5 of imr4831
rem 9.5 primer
rem case
3.330 coal
Don't know what the velocity is out of my 24" 700, but it shoots around 1" at 100yds.
The 54.5 grains is .5 under maximum charge.

I always had excellent results with 60 grains of H4831 with the 139 Hornady. Top velocities combined with super accuracy!

Very close to my best 270 win load of 59 H4831 SC with the 140 Hornady SP. Perhaps should try the 4831 in my 280 vs H4350?

My .280 really likes a load of IMR4350, pushing a 140 gr. Barnes TSX at 3050 fps. out of a 22" bbl.

A mild load, of 52.5 gr. of 4350 and the Nosler Ballistic Tip 140 grainer, makes nice three shot, one hole groups at 100 yards.

If I were hunting doe whitetails for meat in Texas from a stand and near a feeder, this would be the load I would use.

Admin100: My custom, 25" barreled, 280 Remington prefers Nosler 140 grain Partitions and IMR 4831 for accuracy (and amazing lethality!).
In addition to Whitetailed Deer I have killed 6 other species of Big Game with this bullet/loading.
Especially if you ever want to expand your 280's useages be sure to try the Nosler 140 grain Partitions.
Best of luck with your Rifle.

My Ruger shoots well with right about the same load - gets almost exactly 3000 fps. About the same for the 140 Partition.

Never actually tried this actual combo, but I like both that powder and that bullet. Powder charge seems about like where I'd land too.
