Just wondering if anyone of you backpack hunting wanderers have used the SPOT system yet? Especially some that may hunt alone for them wiley elks!

My wife and her girlfriend carry one... didn't work last spring in Moab, UT. Has issues for sure. I think a Sat Phone is more of a realistic emergency aid.

I have used one several mtimes in the middle of Frank Church just to keep my buddies girlfriend from going nuts. It worked OK there.

I've used the older V1 and had problems. The spot connect is nice because you can send a text , I haven't had issues with it. It provides peace of mind to others.

I've used a spot2 a fair amount in the Missouri breaks area and in SW MT; it's always worked fine. With some of the other options that have recently come out I might not necessarily go that way if starting from scratch.

I have the Spot v1 and it's worked fine in NM, CO, CA, ME, GA and Fla. If I were to buy a SPOT now I'd go with the connect version.

I have used with great success in CA, NV, CO, OR, WA, VA, OH, NM, AZ, AK.

When I say great success. All my "okay" messages were sent out and received.
