got to do some recon work today for the local CO, report came to me of a dead deer so I was tasked to investigate. found the deer and enough evidence to know who caused his demise. when lion season opens in a few months, its payback! it was a nice 9 pointer, really heavy

Hope you guys see more than I did during my 3 days off for bowhunting. I hunted my azz off in not so nice weather conditons (28* and 30mph west winds)and seen two fawns.

This includes in the ground blind that sits just off a premo bedding area, stand sits where I have shot nice bucks in the past, still hunting into the wind through the thickest stuff a human can walk through. Nothin. Not even a white flag to tell me that I screwed up. I was glad when it got dark tonight because I was plum sick of carrying my bow.

As I'm typing this, my dogs are out barking at the coyotes.

It has become my mission to kill every one of them sumbitches I can this winter, weather that be rifle, traps or snares! They's gots to go!

I truly beleive the coyotes are messing up the deer herd in farm country as much as the wolves and DNR are up north. I have not seen anything like it.

Good luck Mule 1

Rooster, the yotes are out of hand up here too.

I think I'll have to do some coyote hunting this winter too.

Good luck to all that head out this weekend.

I'm taking Jack for his first trip to actually hunt for deer. We'll be in the woods on Sunday for as long as he cares to be there. I'm hoping he'll surprise me.

I'd love to knock one down when he's with me. That little guy would be talking a mile a minute.

I think the problem has gone beyond just hunting Dave. I think snares, traps and whatever else we can use to kill them bastids is what its gonna take.

On the bright side, I had 3 days off of work! Wooo hooooo!

grin

zero, absence of degrees above and below.... just plain ole zero...

Nice! grin

My swamp trail is becoming a nice walking path as we speak.

This also changes the deer routes as suddenly they too can walk on water.

And speaking of water....

The 6" thick mossy floor and heavy canopy of spruce/cedar bows keep old uprooted deadfall crater puddles from freezing for long into the winter. The deer will get their water from these sneaky water holes if they can't find moving water. Suddenly the forest is the place for deers to be...

Come on in out of that cold open farm country.

I'll hang up the welcome sign. cool

I have a couple chairs jammed under the door handles of ND's office to try & keep him in.

It doesn't sound pretty in there folks. I'd hate to be a deer when he busts out.

I'll slide a couple chunks of this farm country venny jerky under his door to tease him up a bit more.

This absence of temprature is a good thing. There is this little body of water up here we call Lake of the Woods that needs to freeze up so we can fill the other half of the freezer.
