9 point, about 40 yard shot, Ruger Super Redhawk .480 Ruger. I look almost as dead as him due to the 150 yard or so drag out of the marsh smile

Great job on a nice buck!

What power scope are you using on that Ruger?

2.5-8 Leupold that I took off a .222 Rem Contender when I sold it. Really prefer a straight 2x but sometimes you gotta run what you brung (or already have).

Thanx all
Kind of funny that I hunted all my life with rifle and shotgun, even archery a little and never had any of what could be called success. Switched to Handgun and cast bullets as primary weapons in 2009 and have killed a nice buck each year since.

They ain't for everybody but the Ruger 6 shooters have been good for me.

That is neat. Always a cool factor with a handgun. Congrats and get some rest. grin

Congratulations on the nice buck, and with a handgun.

I'm gonna try the same thing:

I'm using a 2x on my Redhawk. I'm considering a little more magnification as the view through it seems to make deer appear very tiny, but I don't want to magnify any shakiness in my sight picture. Maybe there's something in the way of a variable with a 4x high end in my future.

I have never taken a deer with a handgun, but I always have a handgun with me during rifle season. Last year, I had a huge barren doe coming in to the stand at about 30yds. She spooked while I was getting the .41 Blackhawk up. I don't think that we spooked her, it may have been something else.

Nice buck. I like the gun. Don't understand why the 480 is not more popular. Lots going for it.
