It is truly difficult for me to think of anything which has enhanced my hunting experience. I think the laser rangefinder is a great advance for varminting, especially. I don't believe in shooting at big game at extreme ranges so it is of little value to me in that regard. Optics are probably better but, agaiun, I enjoy looking at game through forty year-old optics just prior to the shot as much as through new optics. I still wear leather boots and wool pants and like it that way. I find that animals still fall to whatever bullet hits them right. The availability of good glass stocks has been a real plus for those who like them. The trade-off has been the loss of Fajen! GD

Able to hunt from a tree with a boom stick. In Michigan, it was a no no for a long time. GPS. Forums. A wealth of info and meeting up with like minded individuals, for the most part. Cell phones and text. So I can let me buddies know when that buck is headed their way. Did I say that? Internet. I collect old guns and finding parts in the past might take a lifetime, now it can be done in minutes. Good 4 wheel drive vehicles. RAS

To hell with the rest, the #1 most important development in the last 40 years is...
... having enough money to buy the guns I want when I want them.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.

The internet. It's created more 1/2" shooters than practice ever did.
