Awesome photos guys. Makes me really wish I wasn't 1400 miles from the mountains. I really love the high alpine pics. I noticed in a few of those pics it looks like there is a trail. Are those game trails or people trails? Doesn't seem like enough people would hike there to make a trail, but who knows?

Big W,
Where's that? Always looking for new places to take/test the boy scouts.

Which picture are you referring to? The top one. Is that the little lake up off of bear Creek/410 near the top past the cabin?

I had to throw in a picture of the mountain weiner Excellent choice. Nice low center of gravity to avoid the roll-overs on steep slopes which plague the long-legged dog breeds and lifted 4 x 4's. Love the picture! John

For the snowbound in the north and west... Impromptu coyote hunt, mainly just dinking around in the woods. Hiking in I saw three river otters at about 30 yards. Tried to get a photo but it was before sunrise and still pretty dark and the photos were blurred. After making one stand for coyotes I proceeded on and climbed a gas pipeline to top of the mountain. Coming down the other side I spotted these deer after setting up to make a calling sequence. Altogether there were 10 whitetails in this bunch. Two were not visible in the photo. Those two showed up when they all exited stage left after I started a calling sequence. I suppose these whitetails don't like the sound of dying rabbits. Ten tails were waving when they cleared out. Drained all my water, filtered some fresh from an ice cold trickle then stopped in a clearing for lunch. I almost didn't save enough for coffee, it was so cold and good I about drained the Nalgene! I call this place "The Intersection". 5 old logging roads come together here and form this clearing. I've killed several turkeys here and seen lots of deer. It's my turkey hunting "honey hole". Hiked down an old logging road that was choked in places with rhododendron. For any that have never fought their way through wild rododendron, well, let's just say it's "challenging". I proceeded on to the river crossing and back to the car. Only a couple miles but a couple of dang steep and rugged miles! Just a beautiful morning to be out enjoying Creation. By the way, no coyotes died today but that was just an excuse to get out anyway!
