I called my gun dealer this morning to get a quote on a AR7 for my BIL for Christmas. His wife answered the phone and when I asked for him I was informed that he had passed away. I offered my condolances and thrue felt horrible for not knowing already and asking for the woman's deceased husband.

Then my thought turned selfish. I have been on this guys waiting list for a Ruger 1911 since June and I was up next now I have to get on someone elses waiting list. With the back order on these things looking like 6 months to a year should I look for a differnt 1911(hard to do I am a true ruger slut) or should I just suck it up and get back on the list?

The only other 1911 in the price range/options to the Ruger is Taurus which was what I was going to get till I saw the Ruger. Now the Taurus just seems second rate compared.

I'd wait the 6 months before I bought anything that said Taurus.

More than likely that is what I am going to do. Even though I might have a wait closer to a year now. I already talked to another dealer that is going to give me a quote and eta this evening. I like going through the small private dealers more than the shops because the shops around here are hellacious on their mark ups.
