I stopped into a local gunstore this week just to browse around and saw this 3-screw Super Single Six for $350.

I've thought off and on over the years about replacing a 6.5" SSS New Model I'd let go approx. 20 years ago. But I never could find a compelling enough reason to do so since I still have a Colt New Frontier .22 convertible that does the job just fine.

That all changed today - the price was too good to pass up considering the condition of this revolver. Serial number indicates 1969.

5.5" barrel, adjustable sights. Came with both cylinders, original box, owners manual, etc. Nary a scratch or blemish - appears unfired.

It's going rabbit hunting with me and my son tomorrow.

I'm not going to abuse it, but it definitely won't be a safe queen, either.

Sweet find!

.22 mag in a single six does about the same job as .22 LR stingers in a rifle on slightly bigger critters like racoons and jackrabbits. .22 Single Six is one of my favorite handguns.

I prefer the front sight on yours to the ramp on the current guns; the ramp comes in and out of a holster easier but that older style sight gives a better sight picture.

Congrats!!

Tom

Fun little sixguns, good find. Take reasonable care of it and it'll be passed on to that son you mentioned some day long in the future.

A friend bought one just like it back about 1973...only concern I have is that my friends gun while a tack driver with .22 Magnums shot patterns with Long Rifle ammo....

I've had several Old and New Model SS convertibles and only one shot Long Rifle ammo as well as Magnums...and that is the new Hunter I still have...

Please let us know how it works....Bob

+1 so did I, When I was a teenager the kid across the street from me had one (his dads) and we took it out and shot it a lot. I've been a single action fan ever since.

That was a great buy. One of most most carried ever field handguns is a stainless model I bought in 1972 or there abouts.
Find the ammo is likes and you can do many shooting chores surprisingly well. E
