+1 on the 280 and the 35 Whelen
Those who must raise their voice to get their point across are generally not intelligent enough to do so in any other way.

What will a 280/7RM do on the light end that a .260 wont do? What will it do on the heavy end that your .300 WSM wont do?
T'aint no gap that needs fillin' in your arsenal :D, but I've never talked a person out of buying a gun so....
.280, just cuz. That gap is stll big enough, he'd have to strap a board to his azz so he doesn't fall in....
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I'd say get a 280AI or a 7mm rem mag and be done with it....

If I were smart enough, which apparently I'm not

I have often wondered what would fill the gap between .243 and .308??

Now that, even I can figure out. 243 + 308 is 551. Divide by 2 and that is about 275. 275 Rigby is what the brits call the 7x57 mauser. So you want a 7mm-08, so as to stay in the 308 family.
Of course, 260 is never a bad choice...
"It's what they know that's just not so", often attributed to Mark Twain but that's just not so either

You go from .300 to .375. You are in serious need of some .338s!

The 338 is next on my list.. but that will have to happen next year. I will purchase a full sized rifle for that not just an Encore barrel. I had a 338RUM encore barrel and my friend said "the recoil feels like getting hit in the head with a shovel". I shot that barrel about 40 times and the last shot cracked my Boyds laminate stock I had on it! That was a medium loaded 225 grain bullet load. But the 338WM is the next caliber to fill a gap on my list!

We get what keeps us interested. I have had many chamberings over the years. Currently I am into what rifle I like best. At the moment I am making a nice custom in 30-06 do most of it. What with handloads or even if you use them factory loads many rounds have a lot of flexibilty.
All guns should be locked up when not in use!

Well guys....after reading through all of your wealth of knowledge and of course some BS... I went with the 280 Rem. In the future I might have it punched out to a 280AI. Thanks for the help!
