First I need to say at my age the goal in taking an elk is close to a road. As we left our parking spot on day three of our hunt I spotted a bull at a couple hundred yards and as I pulled down my rifle and got into a setting position to follow his movements my buddy shoved his Bod-Pod under my stock. The bull was moving through brush and downed trees from a fire and I was very pleased by the swiveling head and rigid support of the tripod. I have used a Stoney Point for years to shoot over and as a walking staff but this was as they say a new level of shot confidence. A double lung shot followed rapidly by a heart/lung shot put him down at 352 yards. I am positive the rigidity gave me the confidence to make the shots. Bog-Pod tripod will be in my kit henceforth despite their weight and bulk.

Cool beans!

JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

Handsup, I won't relate my own elk/ borrowed Bog-Pod story as it's almost identical to yours. Used to think these "gadgets" were nothing more than extra weight, but I have my own Bog-Pod now and would not hunt open country elk without it.

2 elk with mine so far, plus antelope. Much better than my stoney sticks.
