Have used 140 gr. Corelocks, 139 gr, Hornady flat base and 145 grain Grand Slams in the past with stout loads of Varget or H4350. This year since I hunted an area where 100 yds was the extreme max range; I loaded some 160 gr Grand Slams with 43 gr IMR 4350, CCI 200 primers, RP brass and that worked too. It really is a versatile and user friendly caliber.

Check this site for some really good loads for your rifles reported by shooters in their rifles:

http://www.centerfirecentral.com/viewer.html

My family uses IMR 4895 with 9 1/2 primer with the 130g Speer BT SP on deer.

I shoot the following in three different remington Model Seven rifles, two are factory set-ups and one is a custom rifle:

140 gr AB's
41 grains Varget
Federal 210M's

They all shoot sub MOA groups and they are terminal on deer and hogs.

Until I actually draw for a good hunt all my hunts are combo muley/elk hunts. My fave for that scenario is 45.0 gr of H414 behind a Nosler 160 Accubond and Fed 210Match. Great accuracy and runs right about 2700 out of my Kimber (I've snuck it up a bit past that but, shhh).

If I were to take it antelope hunting (again, if I draw) and not my 6.5-284 then it would be 46.0 gr of H414 pushing a Hornady 162 A-Max.

Speer 145 over 47 Gr. W-760 ( HOT ) work up , you may not be able to use it in your gun ! My Mod. 7 puts them in little clusters with no pressure signs of any kind . They flatten deer just fine , and don't break up .

How do you guys like the H414 in the 7-08? Is it best with heavier or lighter bullets?

Buzzsaw,

It seemed to be the best powder (velocity and accuacy) for me with heavy bullets (160 gr and up) in my Kimber 84M. It ended up being all I use in my 7-08. I always used standard primers as well.

I'm running 2.825" so I can feed from a standard rem SA box. It is compressed a bit and you will hear some crunching when seating but not extreme. I've only tried it in rem brass so far.
