Well, I promised that I would post some more pictures of my fishing trip to Northern Sasksatchewan when they were developed, so here they are.

We made the 800 km trek to Pinehouse Lake in North Central Saskatchewan with my Lund SSV16 in tow. We arrived at the lake after what seemed like an eternity to be greeted by clear skies and glassy water (which was up 6 feet from where it was last year). It didn't take long for us to load all our gear into the boat and head off to find camp. The island that I wanted to stay on is a perfect island to camp on. There is a nice flat HUGE rock to build a fire on and have the campstove set up on and about 6 inches of moss in the trees which beats any mattress you can buy (in my opinion). Well, in the middle of where I usually set up the tent was a big pile of bear crap. I wasn't too worried, but my citified brother in law just about left another pile. I found another island that had a suitable area and we set up camp.

You can see our tent there, but not much else.

Well, we went out fishing that evening and I tried all my favorite spots. We weren't doing all that well, but we caught some and the scenery was beautiful.

The sunset on the first evening.

The next day the wind picked up and the water got pretty rough. We ended up fishing sheltered bays and the lee side of islands in order to stay dry. In one of the bays my brother in law hooked up with this pike.

It was his personal best at 16.5 lbs and 41 inches. We filleted him and saved him in the cooler.

Later that same day I connected with this 7.5 lb pike. He isn't huge, but he put up a good tussle.

The days catch (minus the previously filleted 16.5 lb pike):

My sister's husband and myself.

All in all it was an enjoyable trip, but the springtime is definitely more productive. We did catch fish, but the numbers are a lot higher in the springtime. It could have been a combination of the time of year and the higher than usual water levels. I'll let you know how the spring trip goes...

Awesome pictures. Just started pike fishing in a river this year. Has been a lot of fun. My brother has caught a 10lb and I have caught an 8lb. Two of my friends cam ewith me and it became one of their favorite things to do.

SamSteele - are you familiar with Espanolia, Canada? My family and I have been to a place called Bear Lake Wilderness Camp there the past two years fishing pike. Some of the background looks dead up like in your pics. My best day I caught 22 pike, one being 28", the rest averaging mid 20's. But anyway I was just curious.

Nice pics. Yeah, those pike are better eating than the walleyes. I'm glad not many people know how to fillet the Y bones out. More pike for the rest of us, haha

Do it today. Tomorrow there may be a law against it.

I'm not familiar with that area. What province? Truth be told, a lot of northern Canada looks like the pictures I posted. Last spring when my wife and I went up here we kept track of how many pike and walleye we caught one day. Between the two of us it was over one hundred pike, and 47 walleye. The biggest pike that trip was 12 pounds, along with 10's and 8's and the biggest walleye were 4 pounds.

I had to go back and make sure I didn't post any pictures of our bums. Then I re-read your post.

Thanks by the way...
