I can't say it is the best, but i really like my Pact much better than the cheaper Chroney's i have owned.

Several of us here on the fire have had no problems with the ProChrono digital chronograph.
Mine is about five years old and has never missed giving me a reading under all kinds of lighting situations. It also has a larger "window" to shoot through than some other brands.

The "best" is undoubtedly the Oehler 35 (or the 43 if you can find one.) The best value for money though is the PCD suggested by CKW. They just work well.

...The "best" is undoubtedly the Oehler 35 (or the 43 if you can find one.)... I disagree. The PVM-21 is better. It's more precise, it's more compact (easier to transport and set up), impossible to screw up the screen spacings and it has built-in IR. It's also a bit more expensive but, unlike the Oehlers, it's not 1980s technology.

I don't recall ever reading any complaints about the ProChrono digital. It's what I bought after thoroughly researching chronos. Best bang for the buck, IMO.
Also, their service dept is great. I had a errant MZ sabot take out the display on mine so I sent it in and had it back in about 12 days. It cost ~$45.00 for the repairs including return shipping, which I thought was very fair.

I guess I will break the mold on this one because my brand new ProChrono isn't reading anything. I first set it up inside and tried it with a rubber band fired piece of paper.... nothing. Figured maybe it didn't like my lighting. Took it to the range today and set it up and couldn't get a reading, juat a steady 0 on the display. Finally set up my buddies beta master in line with it. The Beta worked like a champ but still nothing on the ProChrono digital. We will see what the company says on monday.
