Who makes a decent after market trigger for the Remington 788 or who can adjust the three I have?

Canjar made one about 10 years ago but I haven't seen a new one listed. Last year Timney listed one but it's not in their catalog right now.

These guys have Timney replacements listed for sale here.

Matavenado,

Canjar makes one but the last one that I got took 7-8 months to get. Who knows how long it will be, call them: (303) 295-2638

I've done trigger jobs on two 788 triggers. If you want the info, PM me and give me your e-mail address and I'll send the "fix" to you.

All you have to do is shim up the back of the trigger assembly, put a shim under it retighten the screw and check it for creep. This is a test deal where, once you have your rifle apart have an automotive feeler set ready and slip it under the rear screw holding the trigger down once you've achieved the right amount cut a shim and place it permanately. This gets rid of the creep. You can drill and tap the 788 trigger housing for a real small set screw and get infinate adjustment. For the trigger pull, if you are inclined you can drill a new pivot pin hole up higher and gain leverage which will lighten your pull. Only drawback with these two mods is most of it is done above the trigger spring and you have to place the spring on the opposite side of the trigger. So shimming is an easy task and does make a big difference.

Take care and have fun. Swany
