Son came over today to give me a hand with some things and started looking at my single shot rifles. Guess i didn't remember how many I had accumaled over the years. Have the first two I got years ago from my grandfather, a cut down 84 Springfield and a 1878 Sharps "Old Reliable" falling block. He gave me a couple of large canvas bags filled with inside primed 45-70 BP cartridges. This was like giving a 14 yr. old the key to the candy store. Shot up several hundred of them through the 84 Springfield. Thankfull I kept a 100 or so and didn't shoot them up.

This started me with accumalating SS CFs for hunting and varmit shooting. Now have added to the above with the following: Sav. 219s a 30-30 and a .22 Hornet opened to a K Hornet, 85 Win. 38-55, Ruger No. 1 45-70 (retirement gift 23 yrs ago) and a TC Hunter 87 with both a 30-06 & 22-250 barrel setups. None of these save the Sharps are collectors, just fun rifles to both shoot and hunt with. Now if I could just get my NEF .22rf to shoot more accurately I'd have it made.

My SS battery is very small, A Ruger #1V in 220 Swift, and an old C Sharps 45-120, but a couple yotes have fallen to the Swift, and a dozen or so deer and pigs didn't like the 540 gn. Paul Jones creedmoor bullet from the Sharp's. grin

Still working on my toy collection, added a Win 1885 Safari in .300H&H to it yesterday. That puts me at two Browning 1885's, one is a .223 highwall, the other was a 22-250, been converted to 32-40.
Then there are two Rugers, one is a .32-30rem with a Canjar, the other is a 1H in 450-400NE.
And the other is a Stevens 044-1/2 built into a .218bee.
And a H&H .300rook
The 32-30 and the 32-40 and the bee have RKS octagons on them.

209jones, I envy you your .300 Sherwood H&H. Is it a hammer or hammerless break-action gun, or a falling block? There was recently an article in either "Rifle" or "Handloader" on that cartridge. A good one for sure!

If my traditional muzzle loader counts, I've got two single shots. Otherwise just the Number One Tropical.

Heck! I don't even know how many I have... let alone what they are... blush I used to have 30 or 31 Ruger #1's but I sold a bunch off. 'Bout the only unmodified #1's I have left are the K1-A's... (.35 Whelen, 6.5x55, and .250 Sav.) and those are all N.I.B.

Got a call from my 'Smith the other day and he asked for ammo to testfire my 6.5x54 1-A. So that one's about done. smile

Thinking the next one will be a #1 in 8x68S... I have a .300 Winnie I don't need and an 8mm bbl contoured blank... smile OR I could give him my action, and my Pac-Nor barrel blank (1~8" twist) and tell him to make up a 7x65R. smile

I have Browning B-78's in .300 H&H and a .405 Win. in the works. And Browning/Winchester 1885's in .225 Win., .22 K-Hornet, .22 Hornet (Soon to be converted to .25/20) .243 Win., 7mm WSM, .325 WSM, .38/55, and .45 Long Colt. (And a .223 on layaway to make a 6.5x47)

Aaaaaaarrrrggghhh! My head hurts.... There's more, I just can't think of them...

A rolling block that I mail ordered as a kid in .43 Mauser for an outlandish price of about $15, including two boxes of Dominion branded ammo. A 510 Remington Targetmaster void of finish compliments of my deceased Father-In-Law. I may have that one modified for my granddaughters. A Shiloh Sharps #1 in .40-65. A TC G2 Contender .223 16.25" carbine for handy vehicle carry. Two Ruger No. 1s, an AH .25-06 and a 1S-C .45.70. I am in the market for a nice Savage 219B in .30-30. The Contender barrel in that caliber is an option, but it seems like I almost have to "wear" that rifle as opposed to reach, aim, fire. The stock's pistol grip doesn't wear well with me. Jack
