While up at the Grand Canyon to catch the lunar eclipse Saturday morning, a group of mule deer with a young forky buck obliged for a Nikon moment.
A couple other shots are posted in my wildlife photo gallery.

Very nicely captured.

Great photography is not about being in the right place at the right time, it is about putting yourself in the right place at the right time.

Very nice. For some reason we have trouble finding a lot of sunlight here in Oregon. It sure enhances the detail.

How did the eclipse shoot go? It dropped below our horizon before recovery, so we scrapped our efforts here.

Wow! Were those taken with that 70-300 lense I think you mentioned one time? How much, if any, post prep did you have to do?

Don,
Those deer crossed the road right by an overlook and the buck bedded about 30 yards from the parking lot. They were not too concerned about gawking tourists. The forky even put his head down and napped.

Nothing special for processing just adjusted levels, contrast, saturation, sharpness. The bedded buck was with the 70-300 at 250mm f/8, and very little crop.
