Just did my end of season gun cleaning. Two .30-06, one .308, one .348, three 12 guages, one .22 pistol, two .22 rifle. I'm high on Hoppes No. 9! But sad it's over. frown

I hope you are right.

I won't ever forget my "lean years" when I could only muzzle-load public land, quite often alone due to my job. I think I went about 30% over 10 years or so. Been averaging over 1 a year for 10 years or so now rifle hunting private land in MN.

You really appreciate what you have when you have not always had it.

I did a lot of walking today, I sat in my stand until 9 this morning then I went walking. Did a sneak through 1/2 mile of cedar, then made my way back to a stand that none of us have visited this year yet. Its a shabby old ladder at the edge of some cedars overlooking an old tamarack cutting. Well I saw a deer across the cut from me. 100 yds, just saw the back and rump, for about 2 seconds then it was completely concealed again. I had the hammer back and the heart rate up for just a minute or so. But the deer was gone.

Oop, my ruff grouse just came back to see me and tonight I have my MKII target pistol with. I'm happy to report the grouse is dead now. grin

He'll make a nice snack.

There, finally got a kill this deer season and from my new stand too. Too bad he ain't a lot bigger and more deer shaped.

I know it well. But as you know, it will pass.

In the meantime, if you could get a tag down here, I'd get you on a deer in no time if you like. But I don't think you get one any more.

Hang in there. smile

Thanks for putting this up Tom. I was thinking there'd be a few on here that might want to know this also.

It's true Dave. Several threads on the campfire about it. I hate to hear this.

I took the kids up to Grandpa and Grandma's today. The girls baked Christmas cookies and the boys worked on the "monster truck" which is what a certain 6 yo boy calls the '78 F-150.

We got the floors on the drivers side finished. Next time we go up, it will be a busy week. I'd like to tackle the rest of the floor which is the trans cowel, and a small patch on the pass. side under the seat where the floor pan didn't reach.

I even fired it up and took the little guy around the block a few times, with much dismay from the neighbors I'm sure because there is no exhaust past the manifolds. I can promise, they knew we were out. laugh

If things go right, we should be able to get the box sides on...at least on side. Then, the fun stuff.

I feel bad too. I had a hard time falling asleep and I've never met her. I feel horrible for Les, Greenhornet, and the rest of the family. Sad day.

Since we're on the bad news stuff, I might as well say it now.

We had a scare a few weeks ago with my mom but I didn't tell anyone here until it was taken care of...mostly because I was scared. She was potentialy hours away from a stroke. She had some procedures done that were completed last week and so far so good.

The biggest one was she had to have Cardio Aversion, which shocks her heart into beating correctly. Only 1/2 of it was working and blood was pooled up on top of her heart, which clotted.

She already talks of having more energy. She didn't even know she was ill.She went to donate blood and they took the sample then told her they couldn't take blood because something was wrong with the sample and she needed to see the doc ASAP. So kids, do your regular check-ups even though we hate it, lord knows I do.
