Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a hunting license and that's pretty close.

I had one a year or two ago that was chewing the living heck out of his front leg like that. Similar situation in that he'd had his guts blown out by a fast stepping 300 grainer out of a 45/70.

I've seen that reaction on a number of occasions. I imagine it could be reaction to nerve impulses that are sending false signals.

I disemboweled a running yote, at the shot he turned and began biting his backside, think he thought something had got a hold of him, it did a 22-250 AI with a 55 gn NBT. Call me crazy if You want, but I once shot a young meat buck with a 58 cal. maxi behind the shoulder, the little buck went around 75 yds, when I found him he had been chewing on a thumb sized sappling while he was dying. He died with his jaws around the sappling, I pulled him back and it was clear he had been chewing on that tree, very strange. Gunner

Yep, seen it a number of times. Just like they often bite at the spot where the bullet hit and spin circles before cashing it in.

They used to give people something to bite down on while they were sawing off their arms and legs in the civil war.

I have heard that bears will sometimes bite something close to them after being shot. My uncle shot a black bear once and he said it ran in a circle a couple of times before expiring.
