Just picked up another x-bolt. This one, composite stalker with the Mossy Oak stock chambered in 7mm-08. What a sweetheart of a lightweight rifle. Now my decision.....120TTSX or 140TTSX ???

I just got a lightly used stainless version last week from a campfire member. Three of the first five loads I tried were under an inch. 120 TTSX and 139 SST. I think I will just hunt for now and try to see what it will really do in the spring.

Almost went with the X-Bolt 7mm-08 but went with the Winny Exreme Weather, so far I wished I got the Browning. Keep looking under "hunting rifles" and "reloading" here. There about a gazillion 7mm-08 loads amd suggestions. My best have come with Varget and Berger 140 VLD Hunting and the Barnes 140gr TTSX. I have some 120 Ballistic Tips to test. Lots of the 7-08 shooters her at the "Fire" like the 120's with RE-15.
Post pictures of rifle and groups for all of us to check out.

Buzzsaw: Varget was the powder of choice with my 7mm-08 but I was shooting Nosler AB's. Have you shot anything with the VLD's in 140....how did they perform....I know they will shoot!!

I would say 120's unless you're going for a black bear or moose, then the 140's.

Ive been wondering this for awhile now, why do so many of you insist on using the very expensive Barnes bullets? Yeah, I know, cuz you can. I mean almost 70 cents a pop, OUCH! And for deer you dont need a solid bullet to begin with, Ill take the 139 Hornady over the Barnes any day, or a 150NBT or MK. Shooting is expensive enough the way it is, but if you must, you must.

I guess I'd let the rifle tell me which one it liked better. Hard to go wrong in a 7/08. Probably my favorite centerfire hunting cartridge.
