Have a pair of Muck Woody Bayou that I only wear to get the mail because they aren't worth a darn for hunting. They don't seem to fit right and they are too sloppy for walking on anything rougher than the lawn. I twisted my ankles more in those stupid things than I ever have before. Tore the upper and the bottom started to leak at the seam along the sole. The inside wear the heel rubs in the back is almost worn through.

I used to like the Lacrosse Burlys but the last pairs I bought were ChiCom and didn't last more than a year. I have had a pair for 15 years now that were made in the USA. I bought a pair of Northerners this year and I like them so far but they are short. These are like a 12-13" and I like them (my boots) to be around 18".

Find a pair that "fit right" and Mucks are fine.

+1 for Mucks. I'm in mine 100% time I'm in the woods.

I am very interested in a pair of those xtratufs. Do they run true to size? Looks like they are good in cold weather, anybody using them in sub-zero temps? Thanks.

I've used them in subzero temps plenty. Get a good pair of wool insoles and wear some smartwool socks and you're good to go. Just deer hunting during the month of november I've easily put 30+ miles on my tuffs and been anywhere from the beach to 1500 ft in elevation. Walked in saltwater and thigh deep snow. Packed two deer through blowdowns walking on downed snow/ice covered trees. My current pair is about 4 yrs old, I've put probably 50 miles deer hunting each year, plus summers doing some commercial fishing and sport fishing. Early season alpine hunts at 3300 ft. you really can't beat a good pair of tuffs. Finally had to patch one hole this fall after a sharp chum tooth gouged the boot and tore it a little.

They run pretty true to size.

Akboater,
Very nice pics. Do you get the insulated or non-insulated version?

I go uninsulated. I know folks that do a pair of each. Uninsulated for summer and insulated for winter.

The problem I have with the fit is that even when I have the right size they fit more like a barn boot. I prefer the ones like the Lacrosse that are more fitted and tighter in the ankles.

with my muck boots I've been using a pair of bama sockets, they make for a better fit for walking and absorb sweat.

I've been wearing the Woody Max while my wife wears the Arctic Sport. I have worn 3 pair of Woody Max to her one pair of Arctic Sport. I switched to them this year and think I'll stick with them.

Looked at some prices today. Shouldn't I get the snake proof boots while I am spending the money?
